Ask one of the students to lead the prayer.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF SEWING MACHINE AND THEIR USES
LOCKSTITCH SEWING MACHINE OR DOMESTIC SEWING MACHINE
This is usually used in home sewing and sometimes in school. It is run by foot and may also be converted
to electrical power machine.

HI-SPEED LOCKSTITCH SEWING MACHINE.

This is sometimes called straight stitching machine or industrial sewing machine.
It has automatic lubrication and used by tailors and dressmakers.

OVER EDGING SEWING MACHINE/ OVERLOCK

Used for sewing both woven and knitted goods but extensively used for knitted goods.
Used for edging and light sewing. Also used for hemming and seaming variety of fabric and product.

It is used in making fancy stitches and in making different type of embroidery stitches on fabrics for

BUTTON HOLER MACHINE

It is used in making buttonholes in garments.

BUTTON ATTACHMENT MACHINE

This is used in attaching buttons to the garment.

DOUBLE NEEDLE SEWING MACHINE

This is used in the construction of the different kinds of clothing specially for the inseam, outerseam and
side seam.

BARTCKING MACHINE
This is used in reinforcing the opening and the closing pockets, for sewing belt loops and under the fly
piece.

ZIGZAG LOCKSTITCH SEWING MACHINE

Used in edge stitching or decorative top stitching or to fit the extra component to garments, such us elastic
tape, pipe etc.

FLAT LOCK SEWING MACHINE/ INTERLOCK

Used for knitted garments but it can be also used for woven garments.
Used for buttom and sleeve hem of T-shirt and polo shirt.

BLIND STITCH SEWING MACHINE

Stitches are not seen on the face side of the fabric.Widely used for hemming and facing attaching.
Curve needles are used.

CHAIN STITCH MACHINE

Used in waistband and inseam of jeans..

SNAP ATTACHING MACHINE

Used for attaching snap to the garment.
