Linde
Sr. no. 60 of
meeting dt.
14/02/13
This matter in general must be discussed: PSA butterfly and globe valves does not
fulfill API 670 and API 6FA (test procedure). In case the valves shall be designed
acc. to API 670 and API 6FA, those valves does not fulfill requirements for the PSA
application with in regard to leak testing (also not in accordance with GOST 95442005), numbers of operation cycles and switch time. According to our experiences
in the past and discussion with Russian design institutes the following will be
required for the PSA unit (and other equipment): According to Russian rules any
plant shall be divided into "process blocks" (for instance the PSA plant presents a
process block), which shall have a shut-down valve up- and downstream
(instrumentation up- and downstream of the PSA unit is not included in Linde's
scope of supply). In case of pool fire design, those shut-off valves shall be
designed according to API 607 and shall be tested according to API 6FA. Maybe,
with help of Russian partners we can provide more detailed information based on
the Russian rules and requirements. Furthermore this requirement is in conflict
with the thermic design of fire safety relief valves. Below please find a technical
information for such valves with fire tite seat and packing acc. to AP 607.
