1.

Check air intake system hoses, piping , housing and connections for leaks, or
damage or missing part
2. check proper operation of air restriction gauge.
3. check air filter / replace as needed.
4. Inspect to insure air intake covers are in place.
5. Test emergency shutdown devices if equipped.
A. With engine water temperature at leats 100 F, and engine operating at
1000 RPM, activate emergency kill switch. Engine should stop and rig savers
should close. Diagnose and repair savers if they fail to operate properly.
For ECM controlled CAT engines use the CAT ET diagnostic software to perform
the following test :
Activate the engine over speed function in the CAT ET slowly increase
engine RPM until rig saver activates.
B. Ensure rig savers are properly latched in the open position after the test.
6. Check radiator mounts and support , Check radiator mounts, support and
guards ( PM C )
7. Check all hoses, lines and connections for leaaks.
8. Check Radiator for obstruction and condition.
9. check coolant level and protection to minus 34 F ( -37 ) C)
10. Check fan hub and fan assembly for proper operation and condition.
11. Check engine cooling system for contamination
12. Check belt condition and adjust if needed, replace belts and non-silicon fluid
hoses ( PM C )
13. pressure test cooling system and cap.
14. Check pH and SCA and adjust as necessary ( Non ELC coolant only )
15. Lubricate fan hub
16. check oil level and inspect for contamination ( PM A, B, C )
Collect coollant sample for analysis ( PM B, PM C )
Change coolant filters ( PM B )
Replace water pump and idler ( PM C )
Replace coolant filter with appropriately charged filter.
17. collect engine oil sample and send in for analysis ( PM A, B )
Collect engine oil sample and submit for analysis ( PM C )
18. Check lubrication system for leaks or damage.

19. check condition of hot oil hoses ( PM A, B )

Check all hot oil hoses ( PM C )
20. clean crankcase breather
21. check engine oil and filtes
22. check fuel system for leaks
23. check tank mounting and condition
24. check condition of fuel lines ( PM A, PM B )
Replace all fuel hoses. Check condition of steel fuel lines and connections
( PM C )
25. Check fuel cap and vents ( PM A, C )
26. Change fuel filter
27. on units that require diesel exhaust fluid ( DEF ), ensure the DEF thank is full
28. replace dosing filter. SAP part # 102038398 ( PM B, C )
29. check exhaust system for leaks or damage.
30. check exhaust system for missing part, losse mounts
31. check rain cap for proper mounting and operation.
32. check for cracks in muffler flange or mounting
33. check diesel particulate filter ( DPF ) replacement date and engine hours.
Clean op replace the DPF every 2000 hours. Ensure DPF is replaced with proper
CAT part number. When replacing DPF affix a stenciled or stamped tag indicating
the date of replacement and the ECM hours. After DPF is replaced a CAT tech
must reset the ash level back to zero. Create separate MO documenting DPF
replacement and use assembly code REPLACE DPF.
34. replace open crankcase ventilation filter. SAP part # 101597134. Torque cap
to 220 in / lbs
35. clean CRS head. SAP part # 101597135
36. inspect spark plug for carbon build up on CRS head. Replace with SAP part #
101597157 if necessary ( PM A, C )
Inspect blanking cap for corrosion, loose mounting, etc ( PM B )
37. replace any manifold that is cracked
