Cooperative Work Experience (Co-op)

Mr. Windy
Class Information

Description of Class:
Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) integrates a students academic and career interests into a
meaningful work experience. Through this interaction, students are able to apply classroom
instruction and professional behaviors to real life situations. The CWE coordinator and training
site supervisors work together with the student to develop an experience that will enhance the
student's skills and expose them to authentic working conditions.
Students spend approximately 10-20 hours per week working at the training site to gain specific
skills and a broader understanding of their chosen career field. They also begin to develop a
network of professional contacts that might lead to full-time job opportunities after graduation.
The hands-on training and understanding of employer expectations gained through CWE is a
valuable asset for building your resume and portfolio. You will also gain confidence, learn
interpersonal communication skills, conflict-resolution skills, personal finance information, and
computer application skills. Employers look for students with relevant career experience in
addition to a college degree.

Absences: It is the students responsibility to call in whenever he/she is going to miss school;
and, therefore, not be on his/her job site that day. Three (3) calls must be placedone to the
school, one to Mr. Windy, and one to the site supervisor. Failure to call MCHS, your site
supervisor, and Mr. Windy on one occasion throughout the year will result in the student being
withdrawn from the program with an F.
It is your responsibility to find out what you missed. I will not find you.
Late Work: Two late assignments allowed (full credit), after two, they will be counted as zeros.
Final Thoughts: Be prepared to study and work hard. This is an upper level course and it was
taken as an elective on your part. When out in the community, you are not only representing
yourself, but your teacher and the school as well. Always act and react with character, honesty,
and integrity.
