Common INOW Trouble Shooting Questions

1. What does the blue box around the students score mean?
ANS. A blue box around a score means that the student was absent that day.
2. Why are some scores highlighted in red?
ANS. A score highlighted in red is higher than the maximum for that activity.
It should still calculate correctly, however, you may not have more than 100
points for a student at the end of the grading period or it will not calculate a
correct student average.
3. Why dont I see all my activities on the Plan tab?
ANS. Click the arrow next to the View and choose Entire Grading Period
4. Why dont I see my activities in the Score tab?
ANS. Go to the Plan tab. Click on the activity and make sure that Graded is
checked
5. After putting in a students grade, why cant I see the student average?
ANS. Make sure that you have view student average selected in the Options
menu. Make sure that you hit recalculate for most recent grades to be
included in the average.**** This is very important when teachers add make
up work at progress reports or the end of the grading period because MANY
teachers forget to do this and the average is incorrect on the report card
6. How do I exempt a student for an assignment?
ANS. If a student is absent and you would like to exempt them from the
activity type ABN
If a student is absent but they are required to make up the assignment type
ABI and a ZERO will be calculated in the average until they make up the
assignment. If a student was not absent but did not turn in the work, type
MI=Missing and a ZERO will be calculated into the average
7. Why dont my parents see the activity in the parent portal?
ANS. Go to the Plan tab. Click on the activity and make sure that Visible in
Home Portal is checked
8. Why are my averages calculating so high?
ANS. Go the the Plan Tab. Click on an activity and make sure that you have
the following set up:
Total Points = what the assignment is worth
Weight Multiplier=1.00 ( the weight multiplier adds the assignment to
your average
multiple times)
Weight Addition=0.00 ( anything added here adds extra points to the

assignment for the


whole class)
9. Can I autofill and activity?
ANS. Yes. Fill in one students grade, right click,choose Fill and the rest of
the blank grades will fill.
10.Why will my final averages for report cards not calculate?
ANS. If you exceed the number of point on the grading scale the program will
not recognize the average. STUDENT AVERAGES CANNOT EXCEED 100.
11.How do I add points to a final report card grade (example-Principal
directive states no student can make below a 65).
ANS. Go to the student averages menu. Select the student average that
you want to change and enter a DIRECT GRADE. On the Score tab hit
RECALCULATE.
Additional Notes for new coaches:

The report card window must be open to submit final grades. The attendance
operator does this.
Teachers must go to the post grades to upload report card grades.
DO NOT OPEN POST GRADE WINDOW for progress reports. The average is
automatically pulled from the gradebook in progress.
