UFO SIGHTINGS IN CYPRUS REPORTED TO PSYCHOGNOSIA (as of July 2009)

Psychognosia has received reports from credible individuals of 9 UFO sightings in Cyprus, plus 2
incidents reported in The Guardian newspaper (UK) and reports in Famagusta Gazette.
1.

Coral Bay UFO sighting (from John Knowles & Linda Leblanc):
Date: 23 July 2009, Time: 20:55 Where: Coral Bay
Weather: clear skies, light onshore breeze, dark, clear sky
Number of witnesses that we know about: six
Watching the crescent moon set in Coral Bay, in the darkened skies, as we looked out to
sea, an unknown object flying in a north-south direction crossed the sky in front of us.
Altitude was about 300 feet, speed about 200 mph or less. An unknown object that
appeared like a fireball, extremely bright red-orange in colour, maintained the same
altitude as it passed to the south in the direction of Paphos. Maintained a level flight all
the time it was in sight. Slow & steady. No audible sound or visible shape other than a
ball-like appearance.
Sighting corroborated by next door neighbours who telephoned shortly afterwards to
ask if we had seen it (a retired Dutch medical doctor & his wife). Subsequently
reported in newspapers by witness in a town nearby and by another Coral Bay resident.

2.

Famagusta Gazette (15 Nov. 2007) reports recent UFO activity over Cyprus, Larnaca
airport, Limassol, Kyrenia, Pyrga, Paphos.

3.

January 2005, Evdimou beach, about noon two witnesses report a spaceship with
incredibly bright lights, radiating light with small lights underneath, a circular disk
shape. Hovered about 5 minutes, quite high up but very large. Disappeared upwards
leaving a vapour trail.
We have heard of reports of other sightings in this area and near Aphrodites rock.

4.

Reported in the Guardian (UK), 3 Feb, 2005:

Daylight Disc Sighted over Cyprus. Refers to a March 2002 sighting of a retired
Swiss playwright spotting a silver, saucer-shaped object merging from the clouds as he
walked along the beach.

5.

On Coral Bay beach, summer 2004, reported by a person walking on the beach, about 8
am, flashing bright light in the sky, moving east, definitely not an airplane as it
suddenly disappeared from view.

6.

Guardian 10 August 2002, UFO spotted over the Troodos Mountains

7.

Report of a UFO sighting on Ayios Giorgos/Coral Bay road: bright light, travelling fast
towards Kathikas hills direction, then suddenly disappearing (date unknown).

8.

Approximately 2000, near Panayia. Awakened by light coming through shutters of

bedroom window. Saw a spaceship parked near the house. Stayed there for about an
hour and then took off.

9.

One young girl drew a picture of what she saw a flying saucer with lights & windows
(mid 1990s).

10.

It was a clear evening in late summer or early autumn 1993. A retired expat who was
interested in astronomy was preparing to observe the M-31 spiral nebula in Andromeda.
Through his binoculars, facing east, with north to his left, he saw what appeared to be a
typical satellite, in a north-to-south orbit, and assumed it was Russian, as American
satellites usually follow an equatorial orbit. To his amazement, as he watched, quote it
did a 180 degree turn to starboard, then having reversed its course, did a sharp 90
degree turn, again to starboard, crossing its original track, then simply faded out, just
like the Romulan cloaking device in Star Trek. A few seconds later a second virtually
identical satellite appearing object came along, but this one continued on a track

parallel to that of the first one, on a conventional course until lost to sight in the south.
11. The following morning, of a cloudless day, at about 4am, the same individual was on his
verandah when an extremely brilliant, whiter-than-white light, the apparent size and
shape of the full moon, moving very rapidly, came from the direction of the open sea
and passed almost overhead. Strictly visual, no sound, no sign of anything in the land
behind his house. No plausible natural explanation. Although scoffers might say
something about ball lightning, ball lightning is itself a much misunderstood
phenomenon, never properly explained.

UFO Spotted In Cyprus

By Jean Christou
Cyprus Mail

A British resident in Cyprus yesterday reported seeing a UFO as he traveled
along the Nicosia-Larnaca highway on Wednesday night.
The man, who did not wish to be identified, said the UFO had been
witnessed by several other motorists who had all slowed down their vehicles
to watch the spectacle at around 8.45pm.
"At first I thought it was a helicopter. It was in front of me and as soon as
saw it I started slowing down and so did the people in front of me and then
it speeded up at an incredible speed, hundreds of miles an hour in seconds
and literally disappeared in front of our eyes," the man said.
He said the sighting happened at around 8.45pm. He said al the cars in front
of him had slowed down trying to digest what they had seen.
"It was amazing. I don't know what it was but it was bizarre. It was up in the
sky. It looked like the kind of height of a low-flying plane or a helicopter.
That's why I didn't immediately think it was odd and then as it started to
move and speed up I thought, 'This is weird'. It was bright white sphere of
light hovering slowly."
The man said he checked online yesterday morning and found that UFO
sightings were not all that uncommon in Cyprus.
"I had heard about UFOs. I'm not a sceptic but I think you can't really
comment unless you have had an experience and for me when I can't have a
sane explanation for what I see I can't think of anything else it could be. It
was not the kind of thing you could miss. It was incredible," he added.
Police said yesterday no one had reported any UFO sighting, as did the
Larnaca Airport Control Tower.
"The only thing written in the log book for that time last night is We need
new chairs for the control tower'," said one Civil Aviation official.
The official said however that the radar does regularly register what seem to

be aircraft but which disappear after three revolutions of the radar.

"We call them Angels," said the official adding that they generally put these
'phantoms' down to weather interference. "Of course we are angels here
ourselves," he said.
Ioannis Fakas from the Fakas Institute of Astronomy said nothing had been
reported to him either. In fact he said he had been called to Limassol to look
at a reported crop circle in a field outside the town.
He decided however that the crop circle, which was around 150 metres
wide, was probably man-made. Crop circles, which are said to be
mathematically precise designs imprinted into a field of crops without
actually damaging or killing the plants, are often associated with aliens.
Fakas said he believes people see UFO's but does not believe they are of
alien origin. As an astronomer he said he does think it's logical that life must
exist elsewhere in the universe, but does not believe they visit earth.
He said that research has shown that 93 per cent of all UFO sightings are
explainable.
"I don't believe men from other worlds would come all the way here and
then try to hide from us," he said.
Whatever they are, UFOs have been spotted over Cyprus on many occasions
in the past. In March 2002 a Swiss playwright who had just retired to
Paphos, said he spotted a silver, saucer-shaped object 'emerging from the
clouds' as he walked along the beach. The UFO apparently hovered before
'floating down' and disappearing behind some rocks."
Linda Leblanc said she and John Knowles, her partner at the Paphos-based
Pyschognosia, which looks into paranormal incidents, said they had seen
UFOs on several occasions over Coral Bay.
She said Wednesday's sighting by the British resident was interesting as
there appear to have been other witnesses. "We keep a roving eye on things
and of course we are always looking ourselves," she said.
"There is plenty of good evidence to support UFOs. There is no doubt in our
minds that something is going on so we're not surprised to hear about this.
We don't really know what they are but there have been some links to the
military. You see a lot of sighting around bases. It could be testing new
technology."
Knowles said it was useful for people to report such incidents. "What is
necessary is to have multiple witnesses and they should record the exact
details and have everyone sign it. I'd be happy to pass it on to Mutual UFO
Network," he said.
"There is too much of a tendency on the part of the establishment to sneer
and disdainfully dismiss everything. It always helps to have more and more
evidence."

Knowles confirmed that sightings are fairly common in Cyprus. "I've had a
couple of sightings myself," he said.

udging by key UFO sightings on the Island, the East coast of Cyprus and the Troodos Mountains are at
epicenter of UFO activity in addition to areas close to Military installations, which attract the greatest
interest from extraterrestrials.
To demonstrate the point there was a strong case of a close encounter recorded by British Military
personnel concerning an incident near Dhekelia in 1971. An unnamed soldier, who provided
photographic evidence of the incident recalled went on record to say that about 1400 men, saw an
extremely bright light, brighter than they ever witnessed before. The Military link manifests itself through
an increasing number of UFO encounters that are being published on the Internet by former servicemen
and pilots.
In Protaras more than 12 people reported in 2010 of seeing a strange orange light passing slowly
through the sky, before ascending over a hill. Apparently the mysterious object appeared to float
from Famagusta towards Protaras and was later spotted by other stunned observers in Dherinya, Ayia
Napa and even Oroklini.

Larnaca beach, was the centre of eye witness reports stating that they saw a comet shaped craft
hovering in the skies near Xylophagou. Clusters of mysterious craft, bright white lights and strange,
triangular shaped objects are simple examples of a surge in UFO activity reported in Cyprus in 2010.

For all the skeptics out there, on Wednesday, May 9th, 2001, over 20 military, intelligence, government,
corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to
establish the reality of UFOs or extraterrestrial vehicles, extraterrestrial life forms, and resulting
advanced energy and propulsion technologies. The weight of this first-hand testimony, along with
supporting government documentation and other evidence, will establish without any doubt the reality of
these phenomena. Here below are some interesting sources:

Whether you believe in UFOs or not, Larnaca district along to the east coast of Cyprus is becoming an
area of attraction for UFO enthusiasts and the upper reaches of Oroklini offers a great vantage point to
view any potential activity. We therefore encourage any readers that observe something strange in the
sky to report the matter to Oroklini News, so that we can share reports.

UFO reported to have come from the coast inland near a village
called Catalkoy in small and rapid zigzags, then stopped and
hovered for approximately 30 seconds before making a smooth
ascent at 45 degrees east. Many witnesses have reported such
events to a local newspaper.
