Step 1: Open Aspen plus software

step 2: click new

step 3: select blank simulation (which is under the installed templates) and select
CREATE
Step 4: After selecting create, ASPEN window will be shown. The window is divided
into FOUR sections.
Section 1: PROPERTIES
Section 2: SIMULATION
Section 3: Safety Analysis
Section4: Energy Analysis
The default section is PROPERTIES
Under PROPERTIES
Specifications window under COMPONENTS will be shown default. (Left hand side
-small window)
Before specifying the components,

NOTE: WHEREVER THE HALF FILLED RED CIRCLE APPEARS ON LHS

Window - THAT MEANS THAT MANDATORY INFORMATION HAS TO BE
PROVIDED. AFTER FILLING NECESSARY INFORMATION, THE RED
COLOUR DISAPPEARS OR TURNS BLUE.

Click SETUP (Just above components)
Under SETUP - Go to GLOBAL UNIT SET
(select Drop down menu) select SI
Go to VALID PHASES in the same window.
Select LIQUID ONLY if it is liquid-liquid systems
SAVE THE CHANGES

STEP 2
Now CLICK COMPONENTS - Then CLICK SPECIFICATIONS
On the right hand side window - there are five sub windows ( specifications,
petroleum, non-conventional, enterprise database and information)
The defaults is SPECIFICATIONS
Enter the desired components in this window
(it can be seen the bottom left corner, there will be a highlight "required
information incomplete) this will appear till the information is fed.

Step 3
The next mandatory information is METHOD
Click on METHODS ( a half filled red circle can be seen implying the necessary
information is incomplete)
Click Methods
Then go to GLOBAL (under SPECIFICATIONS)
Under the method name choose "NRTL" or any other desired model.
Click Binary Interaction Parameters under the Parameters

In this section the NRTL parameters can be

Next Click the icon REGRESSION as shown below

Then in the LHS window, click DATA (with half red circle) can be seen (figure
is given below)

Now click NEW (shown above in red arrow)

after clicking the NEW, a small window will open,

Select TXX data.

After this the setup will can be seen with blue circle.

Now copy and paste the LLE data

Column 1 is the Temperature for each LLE data
Column 2 is Mole fraction of component 1 (heptane)
Column 3 iS Mole fraction of component 1 (toluene)
In this example, the system is a TERNARY SYSTEM
So in column 2 and 3, enter only the data for two components of Raffinate.
Similarly, in column 4 and 5, enter the mole fractions of the same component (1
and 2) in extract phase
A

After this step is over,

go to Regression Folder (with half red circle)
