ELECTION COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT

To the members of the Hellenic Home

The Annual General Meeting along with a Special Meeting of the Members was held on Sunday, June
19, 2016 at 2:00pm at 33 Winona Drive. This year the Elections for a new Board of Directors and
Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at 33 Winona
Drive.
An Elections Committee was voted in at the Special Meeting of the Members consisting of Mr. Chris
Gougas - Chair, Mr. Bill Sklavos- Secretary and Mr. Chris Padelopoulos.
The information below has been compiled as your guide on how to vote or to be elected as:
(a)

a Director of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home; or

(b)

a Councillor of the Ladies Auxiliary Council of the Hellenic Home.

NOTE:
For purposes of brevity, the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. and the Hellenic Care for Seniors
(Toronto/Scarborough) Inc. will be referred as Hellenic Home or Home. Whoever is elected to
the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. is automatically elected to the Board of
Directors of the Hellenic Care for Seniors (Toronto/Scarborough) Inc. and vice versa. In other words
the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. and the Hellenic Care for Seniors (Toronto/Scarborough) Inc.
have one and the same Board of Directors.
DATE OF THE ELECTIONS
The elections for Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home and the Council of the Ladies Auxiliary
will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the ESTIA of the Hellenic Home, 33 Winona Drive.
ONLY AT THIS LOCATION. PLEASE BRING PHOTO ID. The election polling booths will be
open at 1:00 pm and will close at 5:00 pm.

ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE AT THE OCTOBER 23, 2016 ELECTIONS

For the Board of Directors
A member of the Hellenic Home may vote as long as he or she:

is a member in good standing and has paid their 2015 & 2016 membership fees; and,

his/her name appears on the official Voters List.

Please note that former members who wish to run for a Board position or to vote on Election
Day can do so by paying their 2015 & 2016 membership fees and applying to correct the
Voters List by September 23, 2016

For the Council of the Ladies Auxiliary

A female member of the Hellenic Home may vote as long as she:

is a member in good standing and has paid their 2015 & 2016 membership fees; and,

her name appears on the official Voters List.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IF YOUR NAME DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE VOTERS LIST
Error or Omission
The Preliminary Voters List will be available and posted at both facilities at the front reception at: the
Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc, 33 Winona Drive, Toronto & the Hellenic Home for the Aged
Inc., 2411 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough by September 8, 2016.
The members of the Hellenic Home may inspect the Voters List to ensure that their name is properly
entered and also that all related information is correct. If your name does not appear on the Voters
List, or it is not entered correctly, in order to correct the error please notify Denise Handjis at the
Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. in writing before September 28, 2016.
A final Voters List will be available and posted at both facilities at the front reception at: the
Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc, 33 Winona Drive, Toronto & the Hellenic Home for the Aged
Inc., 2411 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough by October 14 , 2016.

Expired Membership
If your membership has expired and you wish to vote, you have the opportunity to do so by renewing
your membership by September 28, 2016 at 5:00 pm. If your membership is not renewed on or
before the September 28, 2016 deadline, members will not be eligible to vote.
ELIGIBILITY TO BE A CANDIDATE (FOR ELECTION)
Board of Directors
All members that are nominated for election to the Board must be:

members in good standing; and have paid their membership dues for 2015 and 2016.

new members that have been members in good standing for a minimum of 6 months prior
to the date of the election (April 23, 2016)

submit a completed Nomination Form for Election to the Board of Directors (provided by
Denise Handjis) by September 23, 2016 at 5:00pm; and,

be nominated by 2 members in good standing.

Council of the Ladies Auxiliary

All members that are nominated for election to the Ladies Auxiliary must be:

members in good standing; and have paid their membership dues for 2015 and 2016.

new members that have been members in good standing for a minimum of 6 months prior
to the date of the election (April 23, 2016).

submit a completed Nomination Form for Election to the Ladies Auxiliary (provided by
Denise Handjis) by September 23, 2016 at 5:00pm; and,

be nominated by 2 members in good standing.

Candidates Meeting
The All Candidates meeting has been scheduled for Friday, October 7, 2016 at 6pm at the Hellenic
Home 33 Winona Drive in the ESTIA.
