COURSE EXPECTATIONS: Algebra 2
Description: This course extends the study of Algebra with a deeper look into the structure of the real
number system. Students are introduced to equations, inequalities, quadratics, polynomials, series,
exponential and logarithmic functions, radical and rational functions, trigonometry, probability and
statistics. This course fulfills the graduation requirement for one year of high school mathematics and
also satisfies the UC/CSU entrance requirement ‘c’ for math.

‘A. — Student Materials
1. Springboard Book. Bring one unit at a time because we will be ripping out entire units
from the consumable book.
2. Lose leaf paper (do not tear from a notebook)
3, Three ring binder
4. Scientific calculator (calculators on cellphones will not be allowed)
B. Testing Pattern —
1. Students will be given quizzes at the end of each “Act”
2 Students will be tested when we reach the “embedded assessment” portion of the book
C. Major Assignments/Activities - Embedded Assessments, other assignments TBA.
D. Homework Policy - Homework will be assigned daily and will be due at the beginning of the
next class. Homework will be stamped.
E. Benchmarks- Standards based benchmarks are given once per semester. Teachers use
benchmark data to inform and revise instruction.
F. Final weight — 20% of the total grade
G. Extra Credit — N/A
H. Make-up procedures/Late Work — Students with an excused absence may request work from
their teacher.

J. Grading ~ Make sure you sign up for AERIES to be able to check your grade online. Grades
will be updated every two weeks.
