Course Objective:
The student uses mathematical processes to acquire and demonstrate
mathematical understanding of Algebra I objectives.
Grading:
60% Major, 30% Daily, 10% Homework
1 Major every three weeks
Unit 2: Students will be able evaluate algebraic equations in function notation and
determine the
domain and range of a function
Week 7: October 3 October 7
Plot points on a coordinate plane, identify functions vs not functions,
evaluate function notation
Determine the domain and range from a set of ordered pairs, mapping
diagram, tables and discrete graphs
Week 8: October 10 October 14
Determine the reasonableness of domain and range from real life
applications
Determine the domain and range from discrete and continuous graphs
Unit 3: Students will be able graph and identify the key components of linear
functions
Week 9:
October 17 October 21
Identify the slope from 2 points, a table and a graph
Calculate the rate of change from a graph
Graph from slope intercept form
Graphing linear functions from slope intercept form, pt slope form and
standard form
Graphing parameter changes in m and b

3 Weeks Exam- Systems of Equations and Inequalities
Classify types of polynomials
Add/ subtract polynomials
Unit 6: Students will be able to simplify and factor operations of monomials and
polynomials
Week 4: February 6 February 10
Multiply mono x mono, power to a power, rational exponents
Multiply mono x poly, poly x poly, multiply special cases
Week 5:

Divide monomials, simplify 0 exponent, simplify negative exponents
Divide polynomials by monomials, divide polynomials by polynomials
Simplify polynomials by removing GCF, solve X puzzles
Unit 7: Identify key attributes of quadratic equations and solve quadratics from
various representations

The effects of manipulating a graph from function notation
Solve from a graph, table, ZPP and quadratic formula
Unit 8: Students will analyze and graph exponential functions to identify key
attributes
Week 12: April 10 April 14
Analyze exponential functions for key attributes- Domain/ Range, effects
of a and b, asymptotes
Write exponential equations and identify best fit lines
