Global Warming
The people on earth faces a major problem called global warming.
Global warming occurs when the average temperature in many places on
earthrise. Environments will change as forming deserts. Icebergs may melt
causing the oceans to rise and flood many coastal areas. Although there may
take several years to happen, it is bound to happen.
We get energy from the sun in the form of heat. The extra heat should
bounce from the earth into space. This does not happen when the earths
atmosphere is full of polluted gases. The extra heat is trapped inside causing
the average temperatures to rise.
The extra heat trapped above the earth is called the green house
gases. Garbage burned in your backyard has greenhouse gases. Even the
wood used in cooking increases the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere
.Trees reduces the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Trees use
the carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases in making their own food.
They give off clean air or oxygen. Another way to reduce the amount of
greenhouse gases is to plant more trees.
Directions: Complete the outline of this selection. Some topics are done for
you.

The air that surrounds the earth is called atmosphere. It lies around the
earth like a thick blanket. The atmosphere protects the earth from the suns
heat. If we have no atmosphere, the sun would fry the earth during the day
and freeze it during the night. The atmosphere helps keep in the heat, too.
Without the atmosphere, the earths heat would escape into the outer space.
Nothing could stay alive on earth without the atmosphere to protect us.

The little bird beat its wings faster and faster. But the sky
was so big and the wind was so strong that the little bird grew
tired. It flew down to a tree to rest.
The wind shook the trees leafy branches and went on.
I will go with the wind, said the cloud. I have no string to
hold me and I have no wings to grow tired. I will journey across
the great sky.
What will happen to cloud?
Draw what will happen next.

The white sail blew in the wind, and the boat floated over the
white capped waves past fishing boats and lighthouses. But it
came to the land before it came to the end of the wind.
I will stop the wind, said the gruff old mountain. I stand
so high over the land that the wind will have to stop
But the wind blew higher and higher, up the side of the
mountain, get over the top of the topmost rock on the top of the
mountain. Then it hurried down through the woods on the other
side.
And nothing could stop the wind.
Who could stop the wind? What can reach the end of the wind?

make use of different resources in the library if he knows how
to look for them.
Learning how to use the card catalog helps a lot. The card
catalog is found in one corner of the library. It is made of small
cabinets with many drawers. In modern libraries, the card
catalog is no longer found in cabinets but in a computer.
Anybody who needs a resource material looks for it through the
user-friendly computer.

Beijing_ A Chinese woman infected with bird flu has died, the World Health
Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday, and Indonesia treated a chicken
seller suspected of contracting the virus. The victim, a 29-year old woman
surnamed Cao, was the seventh person to die from bird-flu in China since
November. The WHO said the woman died on Monday after falling ill with a
fever on Jan. 12. Bird flu has killed at least 83 people since it reemerged in
late 2003, WHO said.

Astronomer find planet
NEW YORK- Astronomers say they are found what may be the smallest and
most distant planet known to be orbiting a star outside our own solar system.
The discovery suggests that such small rocky or icy planets may be more
common in the cosmos than Jupiter-sized gas giant planets, researchers said.
It also indicates the power of a relatively new method of finding such
exoplanets discovered so far around distant stars are larger than Earth. The
newly found planet is about 5.5 times the mass of the Earth, making it much
smaller than most of the 160 previous exoplanets discoveries. AP
