Abstract
Humans are blessed with Emotional Intelligence which is rather never considered as a gift. It
has to be developed by oneself. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand ones
emotions and inspire, influence and understand other peoples emotions. The more people are
aware, the more they have control over actions and no difference in performance of the
employees in their jobs. One pivotal question provided the motivation for this study. Is there
a relationship between emotional intelligence and the better performance of the employees at
the workplace?
Emotional intelligence (EI) is an area of research that has gained popularity, specifically in
examining EI and its relationship on the employee performance at workplace. It is a
theoretical framework that arranges and assimilates research regarding emotions. In this
article an attempt has been made to discuss the effects of EI on job performance of the
employee. A conceptual study has been made in order to know that emotional intelligence has
an impact on the performance of the employees on their job at workplace and also suggests
the various factors required in measuring the emotional intelligence of a work place.
