IMPORTANT NEWS RE: REGISTRATION, AVAILABILITY OF

SUBJECTS, AND SUBJECT TRACK RECOMMENDATIONS

Instructions: Please read and understand the document in its
entirety as there are important updates .
1. On Aug 3, registration day for sophomores, regular students will be
the first ones to be entertained in the morning (those who will not
cancel or substitute any of the mandated second year subjects).
Hence, if you are a regular student, please make sure that your
mornings are available on Aug 3. For those who will cancel or
substitute a subject,
you will be entertained after the regular
students, the LSG roughly estimates that regular students will finish
registration at around 10:30 in the morning.
2. The 2nd year batch representatives will be releasing a link to an
editable google document this July 30, Saturday, through each
blocks respective presidents. In this document, every member of the
batch is required to list down the subjects they want to take for the
coming first semester, A.Y. 2016-2017 (subject demands). You are
given until August 1, Monday, to list down your subject demands in
this google document.
3. Updates regarding additional classes. One additional class in each of
the following subjects are bound to be opened. These are the
estimates of slots to be given to us. Take note that this is the priority
order in allotment of slots: 4th year, then 3rd year, then 2nd year. The
rationale behind this is that they are closer to graduation than we are.
Number of slots here are ONLY estimates. They are neither fixed
nor guaranteed figures.
A. Legal Methodology Existing number of students who have this
subject as deficiency: 2nd year 43, 3rd year 10, 4th year 18.
Probably O slots will be left to our batch.
B. Constitutional Law 1 Existing number of students who have this
subject as deficiency: 2nd year 37, 3rd year- 18, 4th year- 4. Around
only 5-10 slots will be allotted to us.
C. Persons and Family Relations 2 nd year - Existing number of students
who have this subject as deficiency: 2 nd year 18-26 depending on
removals, 3rd year 1, 4th year- 2. Based on these numbers, everyone
may be given a slot.

4. Subject Recommendations IF YOU HAVE THE FF: BACK SUBJECTS

A. OBLICON IMPORTANT UPDATE. Our College Secretary
informed IVP Audrey Ng during their meeting that she will not
allow students who have Oblicon as subject deficiencies to take up
these advanced subjects: Public International Law (PIL) and
Taxation 1, which were before this semester the subjects that our
upperclassmen in similar situations took. Remedial Law 3
Evidence, based on precedence from the previous years, is not
allowed to be taken as well. Land, Titles, and Deeds (LTD) will
not be allowed to be taken as well as it requires Oblicon and
Property.
The LSG, through President Pao Macariola met with the college
secretary last July 27 to appeal the college secretarys nonallowance of advanced subjects. However, this appeal was not
granted.
The batch representatives will just contact these batchmates
with Oblicon as subject deficiencies on what other possible steps
could be taken to try and convince the college secretary to allow
taking the said advanced subjects.
Recommendations for the first sem *take note that these are only
recommendations and everyone are encouraged to create their
subject tracks as well:
SECOND YEAR 1st Semester (max = 17 units)
You may take:
Remlaw 1 = 3
Labor 1 = 3
If you have any first year subject deficiency, take it now.
SECOND YEAR 2nd SEMESTER (max=17 units)
Can take:
Admin Law = 3 units
Labor 2 = 3 units (*can generally take as OCS may opt to waive Oblicon as
pre-requisite)

RemLaw2: 5 units, (*must pass RemLaw1 even if it is not formally written as

pre-requisite)
Cant take:
Agency and Credit (*requires Oblicon)= 6 units
THIRD YEAR FIRST SEMESTER (max= 17 units)
Second year subjects you can now take:
Property 4 units
Sales 2 units
Torts 3 units
Insurance 2 units
3rd year 1st subjects you may take:
Rem Law 3 3 units
Transpo 2 units
* You cant take third year subjects Succession and Bills. Succession
requires Property while Bills require Credit.
B. PERSONS or CONSTI 1
*We recommend taking Persons this first semester because it is a prerequisite of Succession which is a Third-year first semester subject.
Succession, in turn, is a pre-requisite of Private International Law, a thirdyear second semester subject.
*Consti 1 is a pre-requisite of second year 2 nd sem subject Admin Law
and third year 2nd sem subject Local Governments. Hence it is advisable to
take it as well this semester.
*We recommend taking Consti or Persons in lieu of Sales (2 units) and
Insurance (2 units). These two subjects are not pre-requisites of any other
subject, hence your subjects for the rest of your stay in Malcolm will not be
affected.

*If your GWA is at least 2.25, consider as well petitioning to be

allowed to overload with the OCS. Take note that even just 1 unit higher
than the mandated number of units per sem is already considered overload.
