Dropbox allows groups to share files by providing a central drive.
Students can save and access files on a website, and invite others to
have access as well. Students can access Dropbox from anywhere. When
a student uses a computer or electronic device, and they download
material, the material downloads to a folder that can sometimes be hard
to find. With Dropbox, students can download material to a folder of their
choosing, and upload the material to their Dropbox account. If a student
saved a picture of Thomas Jefferson to a laptop computer Desktop, they
could then upload the picture by browsing the computers Desktop
folder and locating the picture in question.
Teachers can create folders for classes so students can access the
files from anywhere.
Groups can create a dropbox account and share files and pictures
for group assignments.
Positives:
This tool acts as a portable drive that can be used at school or
home.
Students no longer have to keep up with flash drives in order to
access, save, and transfer information from one computer to the
next.
There are many options for students to explore in order to create
an organized Dropbox network.
Challenges:
The site requires patience as well as an ability to navigate
through the different subpages.
While the central drive can be accessed from anywhere, the
students must have access to an internet connection to use the
tool.
Unless a student is experienced with Dropbox, it may take some
time to remember to upload documents to Dropbox before
shutting down a computer.

This tool would be great for tests, assignments, and discussions. It can
be good for supplemental learning material for grades 6-12 as they can

comment on the discussion boar, take tests, and complete assignments
on Haiku either in the classroom using laptops or as homework. In the
classroom students can design a page of their own as an assignment.
Those pages can be shared with other students.

Instructors can create embeddable forums on a webpage featuring
classroom content. Go to http://talkiforum.com/ and click the Try it for
Free icon to create a free account using a preexisting Google+ account.
Then obtain an embeddable code and start a classroom discussion by
creating and embedding a forum or multiple forums on a classroom
webpage.
As a Secondary English teacher, I thought of using this tool in terms of
analyzing novels or books within reading groups. On the K-6 level,
students can participate in forums based on assigned reading groups.
Teachers can direct students to comment on questions related to the
book they read within their group, simplifying the lesson so students can
enhance computer literacy while reflecting on content. For grades 6-12,
students can participate in forums as a way to have round table
discussions online. If students have the option to read different works of
literature, forums can be created to discuss each respective piece.
Students can also create their own sub forums, in which they can pose
their own questions and discuss solutions among classmates

Allows students to choose which conversations theyd prefer to
be a part of based on interest.
Students who are shy (and who may not readily participate in a
face to face discussion) may feel more comfortable contributing
to a discussion online and more open to sharing their opinion
The tool uses captcha to verify that an actual user is posting, and
not a spam bot. Therefore students dont have to worry about
irrelevant content popping up on feed.
Depending on the instructor, students can create forums to pose
and discuss their own questions.

Negatives:
Requires internet access; if an assignment is to be completed at
home, some students may not have internet capabilities
Great tool for grades 6-12, however grades under 6 grade may
benefit from a simplified use of Tal.ki (such as only participating
in one forum). Additional time may be required to instruct
younger students on how to use the program
Some schools have strict policies regarding web activity that may
potentially make it difficult to link/embed external programs/files
to a classroom webpage. Therefore if Tal.kis embed code does
not work and is blocked by the schools network, students may
not be able to access forums to participate in the assignment.
