ByjoiningtheEPSRCCentreforDoctoralTraininginAdvancedCompositesforInnovationand
Science(ACCISCDT)youwillundertakecohortdriventrainingandcuttingedgeresearch
makingthesetechnologicalvisionsareality.
WhatyoullbedoingYouwillparticipateinafouryear,fullyfundedprogramme.Therewarding
firstyearincludesastimulatingseriesofseminarsandlectures,auniquehandsonGroup
Projecttodesign,buildandtestacompositestructureandanindividualsixmonthresearch
project.Thisexperiencewillenableyoutobroadenanddeepenyourcoreengineeringskillsand
explorethoseresearchareasthatinterestyoumost.Towardstheendofyourfirstyearyouwill
chooseyourPhDproject.
TheCentrecoversawiderangeofcompositesresearchandtechnicalchallengesyoumight
exploreinclude:
developingnovelsolutionstoenhancecompositeperformance
increasingcompositefunctionalityand
developingthedesignmethodologyandinnovativeapplicationof'nextgeneration
compositematerials'.

TheACCISCDThasexceptionalindustriallinks,withmanyofthesixmonthandPhDprojects
offeredbyindustrialpartners,providingopportunitiestogainvaluableexperiencebyworkingwith
technicalindustryexpertsandthroughinternationalplacements.
Youwillbeworkinginacollaborativeandstimulatingenvironment,strengthenedbythecohort
drivenactivitiesinthefirstyear,whereknowledgesharingandjointproblemsolvingisthenorm.
TheinterdisciplinarynatureoftheCentrewillmakeyouthinkaboutproblemsfromawholenew
perspectiveandexplorereallyinnovativeideas.
OncompletionoftheprogrammeyouwillleavewithfarmorethanjustaPhDyouwillhavethe
skills,knowledgeandacumentobecomethefuturetechnicalleadersinadvancedcomposites,
beitinacademiaorindustry.
