You saw a T-shirt of sh 97, since you don't have cash you borrow sh50 from
your dad and sh50 from your Mom. Now you have sh100. You purchase a Tshirt for sh97 and left with sh3.00 change. You return sh1 to your dad and
sh1 to your mom and keep the sh1 for yourself. Now you owe your mom
Sh49 and your dad sh49. Added together (sh49+sh49=sh98) plus your
Sh1=sh99. Where is the missing sh1??? Please give me the answer. Ask
around your WhatsApp friends n get back to me.
ANSWER
Accountants find this question fascinating but straightforward. They will tell you
about keeping credits and debits on different sides of the ledger.
Computer engineers LIKE ME and basically anyone who has some modelling
capabilities find this question boring and almost trivial in its error.

It is depressing that so many people are tricked by it.

You do not calculate money amounts by adding debts to possessions
Shs.1 did not go anywhere. Sorry, but your problem description is incorrect. Here is
the precise issue - You owe Shs.49 to mom, Shs.49 to dad and hence total amount which you owe is
Shs.98.
- This Shs.98 = Shs.97 (cost of shirt) + Shs.1 (Taken by Francis because hes a
bad/spoilt child)

As far as your parents are concerned, the cost price of the shirt is Shs.98 which
already includes Shs.1 which you kept with yourself. So essentially you cant add it
again.

And now if you do the math it all adds up.

Shs.98 (shirt + Shs.1 which you kept) + Shs.1 (for mom) + Shs.1 (for dad) =
Shs.100 (amount you started with)

100 people standing in a circle in an order 1 to 100. No. 1

has a sword. He kills the next person (i.e. No. 2) and gives
the sword to the next (i.e. No. 3). All people do the same
until only 1 survives. Which number survives at the last?
If 2^n numbers of people are in circle, then whoever has the sword will survives at the last
(because each time half of people remains which is even no {2^n-1} so each time same
person gets the sword)
Ex. if there are 128 person in circle and No 3 person starts killing process then No. 3 will
survive at the last.
In the given question total person are not equal to 2^n, then find the nearest 2^n which is
less than total person (e.g. for total 100 people, nearest 2^n no is 64 which is less than 100)
In the first round of killing process, when the number of people remains 64 at this moment
who has the sword will survive at last.
Now needs to find who has the sword when the 64 person are in circle.
At this time total 36 people has been killed (100-64).
If 1 has sword at beginning then 1 kills 2, 3 kills 4, and 71 kills 36th person who is 72 and
gives the sword to 73. Now 73 has sword and 64 people in circle so 73 will survive at the last.

Another Answer
The number 73 survives.
Consider the case when there are 2^n numbers in the circle. Each time the number reduces
by half and the number 1 remains till the end.
In the given question, 1 kills 2, 3 kills 4 and so on till 71 kills 72. 36 people have been killed
till now. 64 people remain in the circle. 64 is a power of 2. So the first guy after 72 will be the
new number 1 in a circle of 2^6. So 73 will survive.

Some birds were flying and met a bird on their way. The bird greeted them; hello
hundred! They said we are not hundred, we need half of us plus you to make us
hundred.

Question: How many birds were flying?``

Let the no. of birds be X
X + X/2 + 1 = 100
X + X/2 = 99
3X = 99*2
X = 66
