Lesson 2

Gerundio: El verbo
By + Gerundio Se usa para decir cmo hacer algo. terminado en -ing
Ej: You can get to sleep by wearing this watch-like gadget
(Puedes dormir usando este gadget que parece reloj)
By wearing: Usando.

El by no se traduce al espaol.

For + Gerundio Se usa para decir la funcin o propsito de algo.

Ej: Its a clever gadget for opening bottles
(Es un gadget ingenioso para abrir botellas)

For opening: Para abrir

El For, deja el gerundio en
infinitivo en espaol

El Gerundio tambin se usa despus de:

After I always take one glass of water after waking up (siempre tomo un
gran vaso de agua despus de despertarme).
Before They went for a drink before going to the cinema (fueron a beber
antes de ir al cine).
When The media often exaggerate when reporting scientific research (la
media suele exagerar cuando reporta una investigacin cientfica).
While Do not talk while taking the test (no hablar mientras se toma la
prueba).
Since Ever since waking up in the morning, my mom has been cranky (mi
mam ha estado enojona desde que se despert en la maana).

Lesson 3
Try + Gerundio -hacer algo para ver qu pasa.
Ej: Patients who tried having acupuncture had fewer headaches.
(los pacientes que intentaron hacerse acupuntra tuvieron menos dolores
de cabeza)

Try + Infinitivo Tratar de hacer algo difcil.

Ej: He tried to stop smoking last year.
(l intent parar de fumar el ao pasado)

Remember/Forget + Gerundio Una accin en el pasado.

Ej: I remember going to the doctor
(Recuerdo haber ido al doctor)
Ill never forget meeting Nelson Mandela
(Nunca olvidar haber conocido a Nelson Mandela)

Remember/Forget + Infinitivo Algo que debe ser hecho.

Ej: He didnt remember to take his pills every day.
(no se acord de tomarse las pastillas todos los das)

We musnt forget to lock the door

(No debemos ovidar cerrar la puerta)

Stop puede ser seguido por el Gerundio o el Infinitivo (o ambos, si se quiere

caer en la redundancia :v)
Ej: The walkers stopped (walking) to have a rest.
(Los caminantes pararon (de caminar) para tomar un descanso)

Present Perfect Cotinuous:

Esta wea va de la mano con el For y el Since. Hay que recordar que el For
expresa una cantidad de aos bueno,

recientemente terminada que tiene resultados ahora (un ejemplo
ejemploso de esto: I can tell hes been aeting onions, his breath
smells awful)
Y, finalmente, el present perfect continuous se usa para concentrarse
en el how long (qu tan largo en tiempo-). Ejemplo: My phone has
been ringing a week)

La accin se empez y se termin en el pasado.

Ejemplo:

Tambin usamos el present perfect simple para concentrarnos en el how
much/how many (cunto/cuntos)
Ejemplo:
How much work have you had this year?
(Cunto trabajo has tenido este ao?)

Past Perfect Simple

Este se usa para describir e evento ms antiguo de dos eventos; para el
evento ms cercano al presente se usa el

Past Simple.
Had + Past Participle

Ejemplo:
Frankenstein was horrified by the creature he had made.

Past Perfect Continuous

Este se usa para hablar de una wea que empez en el pasado,
