ESSAY 1
In today's world, many teenagers have access to internet and therefore they have a chance
to watch free videos and films online. (1) As it is a passive activity it is very likely that they
spend much more time watching videos than reading.(2)
While watching an online film or videos is not a bad activity per se, doing it all the time is. (3)
This is precisely what teachers and parents fear, teenagers becoming just passive consumers
of any junk videos or worthless information that is presented online. They point out that good
habits such as reading, and acquiring useful information for their future jobs are being lost.(4)
However, if parents at home supervise their screen hours it is perfectly possible to keep a
balance between watching online films and videos and reading. (5) Furthermore, there are
many books that teenagers love such as those related to witchcraft and vampires. So the
problem is not necessarily reading, but what to read.(6)
In my opinion, therefore, teenagers can watch video or films online and continue to have the
habit of reading if they have the discipline to organise their time well, and their parents make
sure that they do not exceed a limited number of hours in front of the computer. (7)
(1) Introduccin. Reescribo el "statement" inicial a mi manera. Observacin: No debes

presentado

ESSAY 2
Nowadays, young people are prone to be less healthy than they were twenty years ago and
also to suffer from a lot of illnesses. These problems are mainly caused by the busy way of life
we live {1}.
Twenty years ago, young people were healthier since, although they did not look after their
health consciously, they did it by eating food without additives, because they lived more
quietly, they spent much time in touch with nature as well as, despite not doing sports, they
did more physical activities by working than young people do now{5}.
In contrast, nowadays a lot of people give more importance to their appearance rather than
to their health. Added to this most of the time they eat fast food and also some of them are
not fond of doing sports so, they lead a sedentary life. All of these problems make them unfit
and unhealthy.
To conclude, young people today should be able to look after their health since there are a lot
of medical treatment for curing and preventing illnesses as well, as there is more information
available than years ago. However, the responsibilities, stress and the lack of time lead us to
leave aside the care of our health.
1. I would suggest either 'our busy way of life' or 'the busy life we lead'.
5. Phew! This is a bit of a long sentence. Consider breaking it up into two sentences.
'...nature. In spite of not doing as much sport, they did more physical activities than
young people do today.'

The advantages and disadvantages of learning English abroad compared to learning in your
own country
Learning English is very important in studying, doing business, or even in visiting foreign
countries.
Learning English abroad, especially in the UK, has a great advantage as you have to speak
the language all the time whether during classes or in daily activities such as shopping,
asking for directions, and watching TV. It will certainly improve my accent and make me used
to think in English - not in my native language. Not everyone can afford studying English
abroad as it is very expensive. Also, some people cannot get along with a different culture
and suffer homesickness.
Learning English in my own country has its pros and cons. Being with students speaking the
same language and having the same problems makes studying a fun thing, and sometimes
competition urge students to work harder. At the same time using the native language in
class limit the ability of speaking English fluently.
Taking into consideration the high expenses of learning abroad, I prefer to study in my own
country and make efforts to improve my English by making friendships with English nativespeakers who live into or visit my country.
ESSAY 4
The English language is one of the most popular and widely-used languages in the world.

Some people claim that studying English in your own country is better. They think that when
you are studying English in your own country you will understand the word definitions clearly.
I think that they are wrong. If you want to know English well you have to know the meaning of
the word in the English-English translation.
In my opinion studying English abroad is a good opportunity, because you will be in this time
English environment. You won't be able to speak your native language and will feel on you the
real English influence. You will have the chance to learn the way of speaking the English
language.
In my view a disadvantage of studying English in your own country is that sometimes there
are English teachers, who have graduated "somewhere" and their English is awful. You will
have to learn more in your country, especially of your native language has nothing to do with
the English{8}.
To sum up, the most appropriate way to learn English is to study abroad in a certain Englishspeaking country.
