Equipment Room Maintenance

Checking Environment Alarms

Checking Temperature and Humidity:

Check these safe-keeping devices are in good condition

Checking Equipment Cabinet Door

The long term working condition should meet:

temperature: 0~40 ; humidity: 20%~90%

Checking Burglarproof Net, Room Door and Windows

Check if the -48V DC Power supply if normal

Check the fan running status
Check if theres any other alarms

Check to ensure the front and rear doors are closed

Checking Room Cleanness

Check the equipment room are clean

BSC Running Status Checking (1)

Checking Board Indicators

Checking BSC and NMS Link Connections:

Via NetNumen M31 client service, query the current alarm records and
handle them (if any)

Querying the Past 24-hour Alarm and Notification History

Check if NetNumen M31 Client is running normally

Check if NMS client and server link is good
Check if every NE could be accessed

Querying BSC Current Alarms

Check if every board is running normally, no alarms

Using conditional querying, view and analyze the past 24-hour alarm and
notification history records.
For those important alarms and notifications, rational reasons and
solutions should be given out.

Querying BSC KPI

Check BSCs KPI and filter out those exceeding the reference value.

BSC Running Status Checking (2)

Checking Interface Status

Checking Active-standby Status:

Check those important double-configured boards to see if the

active-standby status is normal

Querying NMS Operation Log

Check A-interface Status

Check Gb-interface Status
Ensure all the interface connections are in good condition, and
theres no abnormal blocking

Via NetNumen M31 client service, query the NMS operation log to
find if theres any illegal operation happened.

Checking Alarm Box

Check the alarm box to know if theres any alarms and if its under
normal working condition.

Weekly Maintenance Items

Weekly maintenance project includes the following items:

Cleaning Equipment
Checking BSC Clock Status
Checking OMP/CMP
Querying BSC Alarms Real-Time Statistics
Analyzing History Alarms of the Past Week
Analyzing Performance Indices
Checking Server Running Status
Checking Occupied Space of Database at NM Server
Configuration Data Backup
Virus Scanning

Weekly Maintenance (1)

Cleaning Equipment

Checking BSC Clock Status:

Check these two type of main processing boards. If theres any

abnormality, process it immediately

Querying BSC Alarms Real-Time Statistics

Check the Clock Boards working status to ensure BSC is

synchronized properly

Checking OMP/CMP:

Clean the equipment to ensure they are clean and tidy

Check BSCs current alarm lists, find out those important alarms
and work on them.

Analyzing History Alarms of the Past Week

Check BSCs last week history alarm records, find out those
important alarms and work on them

Weekly Maintenance (2)

Analyzing Performance Indices

Checking Server Running Status:

Check the Database occupied space in NMS server are lower than
80% of the total disk capacity

Configuration Data Backup

Check the NMS server to keep the operation system, database

service and NMS service are in normal condition

Checking Occupied Space of Database:

Querying BSCs KPI and filtering out those exceeding the reference
values. Working with optimization engineers to improve the
performance indices.

Perform the file backup for the configuration operation to avoid the
disaster of equipment collapsing

Virus Scanning

Perform a thorough virus scanning for the NMS server and client
work stations. Keep the virus database updated.

Monthly Maintenance

Checking Board Software Version

Checking Clock Synchronization

Check on the NMS server for configuration management backup file, alarm
management backup file, log file management backup file and
performance management backup file to see if theres backlog file.

Updating Operation System Patch

Check all the BSC boards to find if they are synchronized;

Check if CLKG board is working normally and tracing the upper class clock
signal

Checking Automatic Backup Clearing Function of Database

Check both of BSC and sites board software version.

If theres any inconsistent between the board software and the database
configuration information, update the board software.

Check NMS server and client work stations to see if the OS is updated to
the latest patch version.

Checking Optical Fiber Protective Cap

Check all the not used optical fibers to see if they have protective caps.
