Documents for E-3(Researcher)Visa

(It takes about 1 week for the Visa issuance number to be issued.)
E-3 Visa Eligibility Requirements
1. Holder of PhD
2. Masters Degree holder with at least 3 years experience in the related field of
study and research.
3. A researcher with at least a Bachelors degree who has been invited by the
WCU. Documents related to the WCU such as Business Agreements, Contracts
etc. must be submitted)
Visa Application Period
You may apply for Visas 90 days before the date the employment contract
becomes effective.
However, for foreigners entering the Republic of Korea before the employment
contract is effective, extra documents that describe the purpose of the early stay
(such as course preparation plans/material) may need to be submitted.
It is recommended to apply for visa a month prior, as complementary documents
that are not listed in the required documents may be requested.

Documents Required for Visa Application


1. Application for confirmation of visa issuance
2. Photograph x1 (photo for application above)
- A colored ID photograph taken with the last six months
- Size : 3.5cm x 4.5cm
- Printed photographs may not be used.
- For ID photos, a brighter backdrop is preferred over dark backdrops.
3. Copy of Passport
- For those of Chinese nationality, a copy of Residence Permit and a copy of
Family Register must be attached.
>Residence Permit() : A certificate proving the residence in a region or
nation.
>Household Register() : A document that archives the genealogy of a
family.
If entering the Republic of Korea with a family, do not submit each individual
household register, but the single household register made after the marriage to
the husband and wife.

- If unable to hand in the original copy, validated copy signed by a KAIST advisor
or a staff can be submitted.
6. Certificate of Career Experience (original copy) (Note: This document is not
necessary for those with PhD degree)

or a staff can be submitted.
7. Curriculum Vitae (Include list of Research Facilities)
8. Plan for Research (Utilization) [prepared by an inviter at KAIST]
9. Letter describing briefly the reason for being invited [prepared by an inviter at
KAIST]

3. Colored ID Photo x1 3.5cm x 4.5cm
4. Copy of Marriage Certificate (Spouse), Copy of Birth Certificate (Children)
- For those of Chinese Nationality, a certificate issued by the Korean Embassy must also be submitted.
If entering the Republic of Korea with a family, do not submit each individuals household
register, but the single household register made after the marriage to the husband and
wife.

[Important]
- All documents not written in English, an English-Translated copy must be
submitted along with the original document (Diploma, Career Certificates,
Marriage Certificates, Birth Certificates etc.)
After completing all documents
Submit the documents to ISSS.
After receiving the Visa Issuance Number
If applicants have a certificate of visa issuance or certification No. of visa issuance, they

only need to submit the passport, application of visa issuance, and a certificate of visa
issuance or certification No. of visa issuance number to the nearest Korean Embassy or
Consulate in the applicants country within 90 days to receive the visa. You may then
enter the country.

If the Employment period is 90 days or less: Short-term Employee (C-4) Visa


Foreigners applying for C-4 Visas must receive the visa in person in order to
enter the country. The documents required for this visa differs for each nation, so
it is necessary to go to the Korean Embassy of the applicants home country to
receive the list of documents required for the visa.
