I. Course Description
The course introduces prospective elementary and secondary teachers with knowledge and understanding of the subject areas, which
include: foundation discipline, structural components and models of teaching and assessment strategies. These will provide the students with
the theoretical underpinnings in teaching and develop concepts, skill, attitudes, values related to the subject areas.
II. Course Objectives:
A. General: At the end of the course the future teachers shall have attained knowledge of the goals, objective, scope and sequence of the
subject in the BEC and develop competencies on the interactive, integrative, contextualized and collaborative teaching strategies demanded
by the current basic education curricula.
B. Specific: The student is expected to demonstrate:
1. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the nature of the subjects areas and principles peculiar and teaching and learning the
subject areas.
2. Decision-making skills related to appropriate selection of objectives, subject matter, methods and strategies, instructional materials
and evaluation.
3. Competencies in applying teaching, learning principles and implementing appropriate teaching strategies.

V. Course Requirement
-

A rating of at least 75% in all quizzes, test and preliminary, midterm, and final examination.
Active participation in group discussion and other learning activities.
Assignments, projects, written and oral reports.
Attendance of not less than 80% of the number of school hours.
