Promotion Strategy of K_12 among

Selected Universities and Colleges in

Metro Manila

The K in K-12 means Kindergarden

and the 12 means 12 succeeding years
after kindergarten. This program in
education will help the children for
their brighter futures. The K-12 program
aims to enhance the learners
capabilities and produce more productive
citizens in the near future. We knew
that the Philippines has the shortest
education cycle in the world for about
14 years only while the other countries
have 16 years in their education cycle.
The CHEd is currently implementing the
k-12 program in order for the students
competency in their work after
graduation.

The first and foremost plan of the

CHEd in implementing this program is
theyre going to work with DBM or
Department of Budget and Management for
the financing. The CHEd will work with
DBM in reviewing the financing policy
framework for state universities and
colleges to optimize the use of
government resources. We know that
implementing such program will require
more budget to suffice the needs of the
schools, schools staffs and as well as
students. The change in the education
cycle will require resources that will
help the government implement it in fine
manner.

Next plan will be the development

of the contingency plan. The CHEd will
partner with TESDA(Technical Education
and Skills Development Authority),
DepEd, PRC(Professional Regulation
Commission) and DOLE or Department of

Labor and Employment to make a

contingency plan because this school
year 2015-2016, the low number of
graduates during the transition time
will mean reduced human resources. The
possible incoming college freshmen will
undergo senior high, thats why most of
them will stay on their schools that
qualified for implementing senior high
or they will go on selected universities
and colleges.

The last will plan is upholding

educational institutions and their
employees. The CHEd is ordered to ensure
the rights of labor as provided in the
Constitution, the Civil Service Rules
and Regulations, Labor Code of the
Philippines and existing collective
agreements as well as the sustainability
of the public educational institutions
and the promotion and protection of the
rights, interests and welfare of

teaching and non-teaching personnel. The

K-12 is a program that may lead us in
brighter future by providing competent
citizens with adequate knowledge and
skills in their respective professions.
It might be the answer were looking for
to obtain economic development. We know
that everything is hard at the start but
the government is looking in more
advance way to secure the development of
its citizens as well as the country.
