. SITE MANAGEMENT.

3.1 SITE MANAGEMENT


There is a projects manager to handle the projects awarded to this company. He may
be responsible for one or more than one project. This depends on the scope of work.
A site manager has been appointed to this site and he is in overall charge of all the
site activities. He is directed by and answerable to the project manager who is at the head office.
Under the site manager there are several engineers each of whom is in charge of a
particular activity of the project. The concerted and coordinated efforts of these engineers help to
run the project smoothly according to the program of work. Also, directly under the site manager
there are site quantity surveyors, a safety officer and a site administrative officer.
There are the assistant engineers, supervisors and trainees to work under these
engineers, carrying out various tasks entrusted to them in the running of the project.
The skilled workers employed in this project are men who have had considerable
experience in similar heavy construction projects elsewhere. Thus, the project has greatly
benefited from their employment.
They employ subcontractors on supply basis as well as on contract basis. Other than
that, reputed subcontractors are employed for special jobs such as water proofing and ceiling.

3.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PROJECT MANAGER

 He should responsibilities for around all section of the administration, Technical


and other parts.
 He should prepare program and progress charts for the site organization.
 He should co-ordinates between head office and site and also between the client
and contractor.
 He must select who are the best for each work and who can do hard works.
 He should co–ordering with different sub contractor’s agencies to maintain the
speed of construction project work.
 He should attend site meetings preparation of proceeding for tomorrow; discuss the
difficulties suggestions taken out the meeting.
 He should give instruction to the engineer asst. Engineers and officers as it required
by the site conditions.

3.2.2 DUTIES OF ENGINEERS


 Keeping overall watch on working of all the supervisors and workers to
obtain maximum out put from them.
 To control wastage and to improve quality of workmanship.
 Studying the drawing and details provided by consultants and to explain to
supervisors.
 To prepare reinforcement schedules of the project.
 To work out the requirement of different material necessary for work involved.
 Attend the daily site meeting and discuss about the problems encountered.

3.2.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER


 Security services should be carefully checked on daily basis and report promptly all
short comings to project manager.
 Maintenance and movements of machineries vehicles and arrange it requirement in
time.
 Keep well assistance with store keepers to find out requirement to store daily.
 All the copies of attendance sheet and any other documents pertaining to employees
from be carefully packed and dispatched to need office at the end of every month.
 Every personal accident looks after the purpose of employee and he should take
action.

3.2.4 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF QUANTITY SURVEYOR

 He should responsible for monthly bill, measurement sheet, BOQ & material
reconciliation.
 Every start month within 10 days he should prepare the monthly bill & get signed
from the Project Manager & sent to the head office.

 He can prepare purchasing requisition order.

3.2.5 DUTIES OF SUPERVISOR

 He should handle the construction work at the site.

 He should supervise the works & labor distribution.

 Preparing of daily output records & quality control.

3.3 PROGRESS OF THE WORK

Progress of the work is also monitored as the work proceeds according to the programme.
It helps to work according to the programme and to identify the delays of work and then make
arrangement to make them correct.

Also regular meetings of client, contractor and consultant are held to discuss the
progress and the present situation of the site.

3.3.1 DAILY MAINTAINING RECORDS

There are several records that are daily maintaining at the site as the work progress.
 Weather records
 Progress record.
