Consumer Indexing
Introduction
TCS along with WBSEDCL has designed the logic for consumer indexing which is basically location driven and derived on the basis of electrical network. This code will be
used for locating a consumer or electrical asset. This code is different from so called asset code, which is being generated separately for accounting purpose. Ultimately, this
location code (described below) will be mapped with asset code.

Logic for Consumer Indexing and Painting on Assets for Overhead Network
A tabular representation of the consumer indexing and painting logic is given as follows.

For each DTR, a single digit alpha

This will cater to a maximum of 35
DTRs for each HT Pole.
Each DTR code (11 digits) would be
mapped to a 5 digit alpha numeric

digits , first 2 digits will denote the
supply office, the rest 3 digits are
supply office specific alpha numeric

these 4 digits, the first digit would
denote the type of pole (LT, HT-LT
Mixed, LT-LT Mixed etc).The last
character will be kept for any
missing pole.
For painting, 'BBNNNfTLLM' - this
10 digit alpha numeric sequence
would be painted.

Please refer to Appendix A for a

structure types
Please note that in case of a mixed HT

A shorter version of the codes for HT Poles, LT Poles & DTRs (Distribution Transformers) will be painted on the corresponding assets. The end
Consumer is also identified with a shorter version of code. The following diagram shows the derivation of these codes.

Painting and Colouring Schema

The DTR, HT Pole and LT Pole codes will be painted with the following colouring schema1.

DTR - Black characters on an Yellow background

2.

HT Pole - Black characters on a Yellow background. Additionally a forward slash / will be painted after the first six characters.

3.

LT Pole - Red characters on Green background. Additionally a forward slash / will be painted after the first six characters.

4.

Individual component pole in a structure will be marked by single digit number within a circle. The following colouring schema will be used for the
same:
4.1. HT Pole - Black character within yellow circle
4.2. LT Pole - Red character within green circle.
