3 YEAR
DIPLOMA IN
METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING
discussed in length after obtaining feedback from the various Metallurgical Industries.
Inputs from the industries, are accepted and the curriculum revision committee has
incorporated all such possible suggestions.
Modifications made to the present curriculum:
1. It is also decided to follow the mandatory 6 Theory and 4 Practical Subjects in each
Year/Semester. Correspondingly included the 3 new subjects in Metallurgical
Engineering apart from common subjects that are being added in line with the other
branches of diploma.
2. Analyzing the present C-09 syllabus, curriculum is modified in a manner to impart
Skill to the student, by having 40 % practical orientation.
3. Elements of Metallurgical Engineering is being added in I-year syllabus, to have a
overall understanding of all Subjects in the branch to the student.
4. In the present day context, emphasis is given more on Fuels and recent trends like
Nuclear fuels and other Non-conventional energy sources is enlightened, while
maintaining the conventional energy importance. Hence new subject in 3 rd semester
Fuels technology is incorporated and revised/modified subject, Furnaces, Refractories
and Pyrometry is also kept in the same semester.
5. CAD lab is first time introduced to the students , to have application of computers in
the field of pattern design and understanding.
6. Safety and pollution control is now a days becoming more important, hence one full
subject is planned in the final semester to the students. This not only to educate the
