3. Locate the Bees: Make sure that you find a reputable supplier of bees and queens. You can contact us for help on this. You can pick
bees at one of our locations on 5 specific days during the spring (see page 5 for information). Package Bees can be sent through the Post
Office, this is not the best way to get them, but if you are in an area too far from a breeder this may be an option. If you are able to buy
a nuc (nucleus hive, usually 4-5 frames with bees and brood) locally that would be your best choice.
4. What can I expect from my Beehive: You can expect a window on nature that is unprecedented, a hobby that is challenging and
tremendously rewarding, honey for family and friends, stings, material to produce candles and other crafts, an ongoing attempt to
understand the honey bee and learn from them, a pollinating army for your crops and all the wild plants around you, an increase in
wildlife, and joy when you produce that first crop of sparkling sweetness.

Once your bees have produced a crop of honey you must remove it and get it processed. When you
take honey off there are a few mistakes you can make which hurt worse than any sting you have
ever received. First, you must be concerned with the moisture content of the honey. Should you
process honey that has too much moisture in it fermentation will occur and your crop will be ruined.
Fortunately the bees know when the honey is just right and when it is they cap it. Do not take any honey off
until it is fully capped. When honey is capped the cappings are white and as the honey ages the cappings get
darker and darker as the bees walk over the comb. When you are extracting this isnt a problem. But when
you are packing comb honey you want the cappings and comb to be as white as possible. In addition to the
moisture problem there are two pests you must be concerned with: the Wax Moth and the Small Hive Beetle.
There are eggs from the wax moth present in your beehives all year long. When you remove honey these eggs are still
present and if you do nothing the eggs will hatch out and ruin the honey. Do not let your honey sit for any time before
you process it. In the case of section honey you have to put the finished sections in a freezer to kill the eggs. When you
are packing comb honey and pouring strained honey over the comb there is no problem. The Small Hive Beetle presents
the same problems. You must process your crop immediately. When extracting do not leave a mess. Clean up cappings
and all debris. Do not leave anything out that would attract this pest or you will have problems. Following these few
guidelines will make processing your crop enjoyable.
Escape Screen
When our friend Greg Rogers takes his supers off in his beeyard
he places them in a drip tray in his truck. When he returns to his
honey house he moves the stack of supers with a hand truck. This
accomplishes several things, no contamination of the supers from
the truck bed, no messes in the truck and no carrying of one or two
supers at a time. He wheels the stack into the honey house, wheels
them to the extractor, extracts, transfers them to another drip tray
and wheels them into storage. When supers are needed he wheels
the stacks back on his truck to put back on his hives. The opening
on the bottom of the tray is 16 7/8", which will accommodate most
hand trucks. Save your back.get a Drip Tray.

Fume Pad
Fume pads will remove more honey faster than any other method. One person can
operate three pads at a time and can remove honey almost as fast as you can carry it.
Given a little time the bees leave the honey supers and do not get as upset with these
products as they do with brushes or blowers. Experience will enable you to master this
method of honey removal. Basically, you apply a small amount of whatever chemical
you use to the pad and place it on top of the super you wish to remove. Wait time is
determined by temperature.

Fume Pad and Natural Honey Harvester........Shp. Wt. 5 lbs. $22.95
Natural Honey Harvester works fast and does not have a foul odor. Take advantage of our special offer on our Fume Pad and Honey Harvester combo.
Bee Go
Bee Go works remarkably well removing
honey and doesnt upset the bees! One person
alone can take off more honey than two people
using a blower, which is why we do not sell
blowers. When you put a fume pad on top of
a super you will be amazed at how quickly the
bees vacate the premises. Bee Go has a very,
very bad odor and will run bees off capped
honey but not brood. It will not leave this
odor in your honey if you follow directions and
remove immediately after it has worked. We also recommend
storing your used fume pads away from anywhere you can
smell them. This cannot be shipped by Air.

After you extract your honey you need to store your drawn combs until next season. Wax moths can get into the
supers and destroy your combs. Para-Moth is the only chemival registered for this.
Para-Moth Drawer
One of our customers
came up with this design
and we were so impressed
we are offering it to you.
It is a frame with measurements of an inner
cover which has a drawer
in it. It is used on top of
your stack of supers to
deliver para-moth when you store them for the season. You
pull the drawer out and you put your para-moth on it. When
you have to check the chemical in 3 weeks, just pull the
drawer out and add more if necessary. The drawer stays in
place on top of the stack and makes the chore of checking and
adding additional para-moth a breeze. The Para-Moth Drawer
is well made with weather stripping and will not leak!

This unit gives you extracting, straining and bottling in one step. Extract your honey in this extractor. As the honey runs down
it is strained through a stainless steel filter and stored in the attached honey tank. When you finish you detach the extractor
from the tank, raise it off the floor onto something that gives you clearance to bottle. Cover with the steel tank cover. Leave it
for several days to settle and the air bubbles to rise to the top and then bottle your crop. The all-stainless tank is T.I.G. welded

We are offering this as an upgrade to the standard transmission. The advantage of this crank does not need to be manually
engaged with the gears. You can crank as hard as you can and once the basket is spinning faster than you can crank, the
basket spins freely without the crank moving. If you apply pressure to the crank in the opposite direction, it acts as a brake.

center crank. The extractor will handle 4 shallow (5 3/8), 4 medium (6 1/4), or two brood frames (9 1/8) each time you

This extractor is the biggest bang for the buck. Standard on this extractor is a Side Crank which is a tremendous improvement
to the old small crank. Clipped to the bottom of the extractor is a bottling tank. When you extract the honey it drains down

top for bottling and it comes with a lid to keep debris from falling into the tank while the honey settles. The tank is 18/10,

Your product deserves to look its best! Weve made our designs with an
eye towards the presentation of your honey to the consumer. Try one of these beautifully designed labels and watch your sales fly!
Use interesting descriptions to draw closer attention to your product. Include the region from which your honey is collected or the different
varieties available as well as your name, address and weight. For the name and address area we recommend 3 lines with no more than 24
characters per line.
In 2009 we added 9 of our own color labels to offer you the most
extensive selection of labels in our history at bargain prices! We
worked all of 2008 with professional designers and are very proud of
our line of labels. We know they will sell honey for you as they have
been designed to appeal to your customers. All labels are pictured life
size so you will know which labels will work on which jars. Labels
are sold in rolls of 250. Custom printing on each roll of 250 labels
is an additional $9.50 per roll of 250. All printed label orders will
be shipped separately. Should you prefer rolls of 250 unprinted labels
for any of our labels order the catalog # followed by a U. (example,

personalize every label you print and do it in color. Say you have 4 different types of honey. No problem you can
print all four without a wasted label. Personalize labels for any occasion: Christmas, Birthdays, New Years, and
even Anniversaries. You will need the template package unless you can set your printer up yourself. This consists
of a sample printing page and a CD with a Microsoft Word template to allow you to print the labels. Labels are sold

Screw. Once your customers try
your creamed honey they will return and beg for
more! Attach a 3/8 or larger variable speed drill and
you can evenly mix the starter crystals into your liquid honey. You should run the Creaming Screw two
to three times a day for 2 to 3 days to insure equal
distribution for each batch you cream. This screw

Honey Refractometer
A Refractometer that every beekeeper can afford. Beekeepers are analytical by nature
and we all need to know the moisture content of our honey. Unfortunately not many of
us could justify paying $275.00. Now we dont have to. It only takes a drop of honey to
put on the lens. You hold it in full sun and easily determine the moisture of your honey.
Full, easy to understand instructions come with it. We have tested this unit side by side
with the expensive models and they perform exactly the same. This is not a plastic tool;
rather it is constructed from steel and will last a lifetime. Fully callibrated.

1) Have everything you need prepared before you begin melting your
wax.
2) Be sure your mold is thoroughly cleaned before pouring the wax.
Use a little bit of wax remover if necessary.
3) Be sure your wick is the appropriate size for the candle you are
making. Too big and the flame will smoke and the wick will mushroom.
Too small and the wick will drown.
4) Pour the wax into the mold when it is about 10F above the melting
point. If you pour it when it is too hot, the candle will shrink as the wax
cools. If you pour it too cool, you may get bubbles and irregularities
because the wax hardens as it comes in contact with the mold.
5) As your candle cools, the wax will sink down. While the wax is still
warm, but solid, top off the candle with a small amount of melted wax.
6) Be sure your candle has completely cooled before trying to remove
it from the mold. Patience is a virtue and it is best to wait overnight for
the candle to cool.

ORDERING INFORMATION
Note: UPS increases their cost every year on some aspect of shipping.
UPShas switched to dimensional rates. This will apply to packages measuring 3 cubic feet or larger. Packages measuring less than 3 cubic feet will continue to be billed on their actual weight. This means that the cost of shipping
depends on the size of the package. If it weighs a small amount but is bulky,
the dimensional weight could mean that it would cost more than the actual
pound weight. Sometimes we do not know how charges will be incurred
until the items are packed, measured and weighed. We make every effort to
keep shipping charges down on any order placed. Any package over 70 lbs.
is assessed a $8.00 handling fee by UPS. If you have any questions, please
call our customer service line.
If you prefer the US Post Office please indicate on your orders. The
chart on Page 88 is not valid for Postal Shipments. Postal zones 5-8,
dimensional rates may apply.
We prefer to send items under 5 lbs. by Priority Mail. If you are more than
3 zones away, you should get it sooner and cheaper than UPS. However,
insurance is not included on Postal Packages so we have to charge extra for
insurance. Keep in mind, there is no means of tracking by the post office
yet and we are unable to locate a package if it is delayed.
Air shipment orders must be placed before noon to go out that day.
Saturday delivery only applies to NEXT DAY AIR. Added cost is $15.00
and is only available in metro areas. No rural Saturday delivery available.
Please Note: If you place an order for Next Day Air on Friday, it will
arrive on Monday. If you place a 2nd Day order on Thursday, it will
arrive on Monday. If you place a 3-Day Select order on Wednesday it
will arrive on Monday.

We introduced the English Copper Top in 2000 and it was the best
then and it continues to be the best, even though everyone has copied
it. The roofing boards are screwed onto the rabbeted frame and each
piece is glued and nailed. We cover in copper and it will take on
a beautiful patina after a year or you can apply an agent that will
turn it green. Please note: Copper will spot from fingers or water.
Clean with copper cleaner. We will not accept returns on spots,
imperfections or scratches in the copper.

IPM Bottom Board
This is the most important
development in beekeeping
equipment today and if you are
not using them you should be!
The screened bottom increases
brood production, reduces
Varroa mite counts, enables you
to better monitor your Varroa
infestation levels, and enables
bees to over winter better! The
included Corex sheet is printed
with a numbered and lettered
grid to ease the job of counting
mites. Coat with Vaseline,
cooking spray, or vegetable oil
to monitor your mite fall. Close
them up with the enclosed
Corrugated (Corex) Sheet when re-queening or starting a nuc or
package. The rest of the year leave them open!

Hive Stand
Our Cypress Hive
Stand provides the
bees an easy access to
the hive. Many bees fall
short of the bottom board
when they come in heavily loaded with nectar. The Hive Stand is
made from long-lasting cypress, as is the bottom board and they
will fit perfectly together. Unassembled. Instructions and nails
included.
Our
completely
assembled Cypress
Bottom Boards are clear
Cypress. They are a full
22 long and are floored
with 3 tightly tongue and
grooved Cypress floor boards.
The reversible design allows a
3/8 opening on one side and a 3/4
opening on the other. These bottom
Boards will outlast all others.

This is a great way to take honey off. The bees do not get upset and most of the time they
will all leave the super. You place the Escape Screen under the capped honey you want to
take off with the screened triangle facing down. The bees will leave the honey super though
the Escape Screen into the brood nest and they cannot return. Rate of clearing will vary
with the weather. This Escape Screen works much faster and better than the Bee Escape.

Round Comb Section supers fit perfectly on both 8 and 10 frame hives but they are the smallest and lightest of any super and
are only 4 1/2 tall. The plastic frames are shorter than the inside dimensions of the supers and the supers must be adapted
by installing a conversion kit. This kit will allow the super to support the plastic frames. Each frame has two halves, which
snap together. Each half frame holds 4 rings and when snapped together around a piece of foundation will make 4 sections.
Each finished section is actually two rings around the foundation. When the bees fill the rings with comb and honey they
become one unit. The plastic frames are held in place by two or three super springs and a follower board, which are parts of
the conversion kit. The 10 frame supers will make 32 sections and the 8 frame supers will make 28 sections. The complete
supers come fully assembled except foundation and do not include covers or labels.

Our frames are the strongest, best frames weve ever seen. The frames are cut automatically with high-speed
carbide cutters and the end product has smoother cuts and more precise joints. The tighter joints and 1/2" thick
bottom bar result in a much more rigid frame which prevents twisting and stays square. The end bars are a full
3/8 thick and pre-bored for support pins or wiring.

We highly recommend this Spur Embedder. The brass embedding
wheel has a groove for the wire to run in holding it much more
securely. On either side of the groove are small grippers which
embed the wire much better. This is a great improvement over the
Old Style Embedder; however, it does not work well if the wire is
crimped.

This style of ventilated helmet
is woven from heavier cords
than other woven helmets. This
translates into a stronger helmet, which will last longer. Our
helmet features an adjustable
headband, which doubles as an
absorbent dry brow. Pop rivets
are inserted through 4 eyelets to
hold your veil securely in place.
This is a very "cool" helmet whether you are working bees, fishing, gardening, or any other outside activity.

Plastic Helmet
Sturdy Plastic Helmet is a
very durable product. It also
doubles as a great sun helmet
and you can be assured it will
give you years and years of

allow for coveralls being worn over your clothing. We have also lengthened the arms and legs for a better fit.

easy to get into and back out of. Folds flat
for easy storage under the seat or in the

prevent bees from getting in. 2. Shorter

Goatskin gloves have the softest leather and give you the best feel
of any of the leather gloves we sell. The overall length is shorter
than on our ventilated cowhide gloves coming to mid forearm.
Strong elastic seals off the ends of the gloves keeping the bees out
while holding them in place. The stiff gauntlet immediately behind
the gloves is a double thickness of cotton to insure you wont get
stung.
Ultimate protection for hands and arms are provided with these
Cowhide Gloves. The stiff ventilating screen will keep you cooler
while the cotton upper sleeves protect your upper arms. A double
thickness of cowhide in the palms of the gloves will outlast any other
leather glove available.
Our Wee Bee Suit is not complete without a pair of Wee Bee
Gloves to go along with it. These gloves are made from soft
pliable goatskin with a mid forearm sleeve and double thickness
cotton gauntlet like their big brother the Goatskin Gloves. We
dont want our young beekeepers getting stung and these gloves
offer the ultimate protection. A band of elastic holds the gloves in
place below the elbow. We carry only 1 size Small.

Cotton Sleeves
Many
beekeepers
prefer to use sleeves,
rather than gloves, to
work their bees. They
believe that when you
wear gloves you tend to
crush more bees, which
upsets them. For many
not wearing any gloves
at all works best. We
have made these sleeves
out of the same tightly woven American cotton as our suits and
jackets are constructed. Into each sleeve we have put two courses
of rubberized American made elastic, one at each opening. These
sleeves will fit most beekeepers and are only offered in one size.

Feeding bees is how you have strong colonies. Beekeepers who want a good field force prior to the
honey flow feed to stimulate brood production at least 45 days before the flow. Beekeepers who want
their bees to winter well feed in August to again stimulate brood production. We will sell syrup from
five gallons to full tanker loads and can deliver tanker loads across the entire country. HFCS-55
is a commodity product with prices that change during the year. You should call for current pricing.
Pick-up is highly recommended as shipping costs are very high on such a heavy product. We sell syrup
by the gallon which is 11.55 pounds of syrup. We have price breaks at 50 and 250 gallons. Bring your
own containers and we will fill them up for you! We cannot dispense syrup into anything smaller than
a 5 gallon container.

MegaBee
The Tucson Bee Diet
This is the best pollen substitute
you can buy. Many years of
research at the Tucson Bee Lab
has finally developed a product
that bees liked and thrived on,
resulted in longer life, and produced more brood. MegaBee
can be fed as a patty, liquid, or
dry.
Our Fresh Pollen is collected every day and refrigerated immediately. This is not
dried and crusty but rather
fresh and soft. It is perfect for
mixing with pollen substitute
to increase its potency and
recommendations vary from
mixing 5% to 10% pollen
with substitute. Many people
buy this pollen to eat. We
strongly warn that this pollen is very fresh and strong.
Should you have allergies, ingestion should only be done under
the care of a physician. KEEP REFRIGERATED.
Vita Feed Gold is a liquid biostimulant feed based on the natural extracts
of beets and molasses. It leaves no
residues and contains no antibiotics.
It has been tested and used in Europe for years to great reviews. It
will strongly stimulate colony buildup especially if they are weak and it
has been shown effective in reducing the number of nosema spores in
colonies. It is offered in two sizes;
250mL and one-liter bottles. The
250mL will feed 5 colonies and the
1 liter will do 20 hives.

The most valuable management tool available to beekeepers is maintaining NUCS in your bee yard. Some of the biggest advantages of having
Nucs on hand: 1) to make available extra queens if your colony becomes queenless. Should you let a colony re-queen itself you will lose that
colony's production of surplus honey for that year, 2) to boost population of a hive if one has swarmed or gotten weak for some other reason,
thereby saving that colony to produce honey. 3) Use our Nuc Introduction board if a hive has lost population and their queen to introduce the
entire Nuc to a hive. 4) If you just want to add bees to a colony you can place a brood frame and bees from a Nuc into your hive making sure
you dont move the queen.
Some experts suggest beekeepers have at least a 10 % Nuc population for each bee yard. In other words if you have 100 colonies; you should
have 10 Nucs on hand for good management. A supply of Nucs will prepare you for any problem that will arise and your honey production and
health of hives will increase. You will also get a jump-start on the season by purchasing nucs to start your hives in the Spring.

A terrible thing is happening in the beekeeping industry. Many beekeepers are using illegal chemicals for mite control to
reduce their costs. The repercussions have the effect of hurting beekeeping. You would think that they would realize that
beeswax suspends and stores these chemicals, resulting in contamination that lasts for many years. These chemicals interact
with one another to produce a much more toxic environment. Whenever there are reproductive problems in nature the cause
is almost always chemical contamination. Many people are complaining about newly installed queens being superceded
and to this end we are greatly expanding our offerings for queen rearing equipment and information. We now encourage
beekeepers to try to raise their own queens. The equipment below will enable you to do so.
HangingCell Protectors
When installing queen cells into new
colonies you need to protect them until
they can hatch out. These Hanging
Protectors can be placed anywhere in
the middle of the brood nest.

Our good friend Bill Owens in Georgia developed this Bee Vac for his own
use in his bee removal business. We have seen a lot of these and this is the
best unit weve seen to date. It is light and easy to climb up a ladder with it in
tow, which, unfortunately in the bee removal business is necessary. Bill has
solved the two worst problems of bee vacs: overheating of the captured bees
and varying the suction so as not to kill the bees he has caught. His superior
design has a removable collection chamber and a 1 gallon shop vac housed in
a plastic pail. This is truly a honey of a bee vac. Comes with full instructions.

For years we have been using powdered sugar in the form of a "suger shake" to monitor mites. In recent years, beekeepers have moved
from dusting a sample of bees to dusting the entire colony. Now, it
has gotten even easier with this Varroa "Dustructor". Fill the side
chamber with powdered sugar and blow it into the entrance of the
hive. If you are using it as your sole form of mite control, dust a lot.
If you are using it to keep the mites in check until something like
Api Life Var or MiteAway Quick Strip can be used, just dust a little.
One of these is just as expansive as a miticide but will treat colonies
year after year, making it well worth the money and it is Natural.
