CaffeineandHealth
Caffeineisarapidlyabsorbedorganiccompoundthatactsasastimulantinthehumanbody.Theaverageamount
ofcaffeineconsumedintheUSisapproximately300mgperpersonperdaytheequivalenttobetweentwoand
fourcupsofcoffeewithcoffeeaccountingforaboutthreefourthsofthecaffeinethatisconsumedinthe
Americandiet.Thisisconsideredtobeamoderatecaffeineintake,which,accordingtomanystudies,canpromote
avarietyofhealthbenefits.Butsomestudiesclaimotherwise,evensuggestingthatoneortwocupsofcoffeea
daymaynegativelyimpactourhealth.So,whatarewetobelieve?Thiscoursewillanalyzethepotentialhealth
benefits,aswellasthenegativesideeffects,ofcaffeineconsumptiononavarietyofhealthconditions,
including:dementiaandAlzheimersdisease,headache,cancer,Parkinsonsdisease,gallstones,cardiovascular
disease,hypertension,type2diabetesmellitus,fibrocysticbreastconditions,premenstrualsyndrome,pregnancy
andlactation,osteoporosis,athleticperformance,andweightcontrol.
