Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Process:
I cropped the background image to 8.511. I added on a landscape picture and blended it together with the
blending brush. I then added in a sun and used the lasso tool with the feather tool on to make it blend better.
I then added in the words. After looking at it and getting a critique, I added in the ocean water and blended it.
Then I put a filter on the ocean layer.

Program(s)/Tools:
Microsoft Word
Epson Scanner
PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter)
Objectives:
Process:
I first used a scanner to scan in an image from a magazine. Then I put it onto Microsoft Word and I used
the orange color in the rocks to create the bar design. Then I decided to just use a darker shade of orange for
the arrow shape. I chose a font for the title that would draw peoples attention to the flier. I then added in the
information at the bottom and put the information I wanted to stand out most in a white font.

Objectives:
Process:
I used Adobe Illustrator to first design the logo for the graphic design company who did the work for this
brochure. I then used Adobe InDesign to create a layout. I added in a background color, black, and started
adding pictures where I thought they should go. I used Microsoft word to type up the body paragraphs and
headings that would be included in my brochure. Then I started toying around with where I want the words to
actually go. I used effects to make pictures blend together better. I used photoshop to cut out the gentle giants
petting zoo sign and used text wrap in InDesign to wrap the text around it a bit. I then added my logo to the
back of the brochure so it didnt distract too much from the main idea.

Canon PowerShot Camera
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Process:
First what I did was choose my color scheme, although I wasnt entirely set on one set of colors, I knew I wanted to
do monochromatic. Next, I asked a few of my friends to wear a coordinated outfit and then go out and shoot some
photos with me. I tried to take quality photos that captured good light, focus and composition. I used my friends
Canon camera. Then, I opened the picture up in Photo shop and used some editing techniques to fix up the picture
a bit. I used levels, sharpness, blemish brush, saturation and color balance. After that, I made a 8.511 layout and
started incorporating the color blue into my design. I used mostly the ellipse tool, and kept the circles as a repetitive
theme throughout the entire design. I watched a lot of tutorials on Photoshop to get a feel for it and had to refer
back to them quite often. I tried to create flow using bits of white throughout the piece, here and there.

Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Process:
First, I created 4 sketches of my design. Then I chose one design and I modified it on Adobe InDesign. I used a
lot of black and white to really make a contrast. I used black bars, skinny rectangles, for repetition and to draw
the eye to the title. I tried to keep it simple and make sure I had a good balance of white space and used space.

Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.
Dont use photos or live trace.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.
Include contact information: name, address, phone, website, and email on each piece. Use periods, bullets, or
spaces in phone number; no parentheses/ hyphens.
Process:
I created the shapes using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. I used the pathfinder tools to combine the shapes
together to make it easier to work with. When the logo was finished, I saved it and then placed it into InDesign.
I made the first page my letterhead. I added the logo to the top left and then on the top right corner of the
page, I put my name in a larger font than all of the information. Next, I added the logo to the first side of the
business card and put the different colors of teal into rectangles to give it the surfboard feel to it. Then I put the
contrasting color on the back with the information of the business.

Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page so the long side is 300 500 pixels.
Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience.
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML.
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS. complement the logo design.
Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.
Open the HTML page in a web browser and capture a quality screen shot with .5 inch margins for printing.
Process:
I created this webpage using TextWrangler and Adobe Dreamweaver. I have never used any HTML or CSS
programs. It was interesting learning about coding and how coding on one program could change the look or
design on the webpage. I changed the fonts around and the colors of the background and borders of my webpage
using Dreamweaver. I really enjoyed working on this project.
