MONTAGE
Description: This project is a photo montage where I
combined a photo of the Salt Lake City Temple with a photo
that I took together and added a spiritual message.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while
designing): The process of this project was very difficult
at first. I made many different rough drafts until I
finally figured out how I wanted to present my spiritual
message. I began searching many high quality images of
temples on the internet and after I found the one I wanted
to use I uploaded it into Photoshop and brightened,
sharpened, and added more contrast to the image. I then
chose a photo that I had taken and then brightened,
sharpened, and added more contrast as well as a filter
preset that I had bought for Photoshop. I imported the
temple photo first and cropped it in and then added the
photo of my model on top. I masked the top layer and used
the brush tool with many different exposures to create
my image. I wanted the temple to show through her, but I
wanted her face to to have full exposure.
Message: The message of this project is to emphasize us
seeing ourselves in the temple.
Audience: The audience is young adults planning and
preparing to enter the temple.
Top Thing Learned: Ive never had experience using the
masking tool, and with this project I learned many new
skills with being able to create a double exposure photo.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied:
Splendor filter from The Creative Set and applied it to
the photo of my model.

Flier
Description: For this project, I was given a set of
information about an event as well as photos and a
logo. I had to create a flier to represent a Graduate
Leadership Conference that would appeal to college
graduates.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles):
I used Indesign for this project and I watched a
preparation video by Caryn Esplin as well as some
tutorial videos I found on Youtube that helped me
create and cut shapes and the photo. I used the Visual
FOCUS online book to help me with my fonts as well as
spacing.
Message: The message I want the audience to receive
is that the event is more business related and
professional, yet for students that are just graduating
ready to learn about leadership.
Audience: The audience is for graduating seniors.
Top Thing Learned: From this project, I learned how to
use many basic principles of InDesign. Before last week
I had never used the program, and this project pushed
me to learn a lot about white space, alignment, and
contrast.
