Arcane Archer

(Ed. Note - I rewrote the opening paragraph, because it was poorly written)

Deep in the forests, a few select elves look to not only master the bow (the ancestral
weapon of their people), but also fuse the arts of the bow with their mastery of the arcane
arts. This has led to this once-secretive order of elves becoming some of the most powerful
combatants in the world. Even today, they are still one of the foremost groups of elves
keeping the ancient tradition of blending magic and archery alive.
Though most arcane archers are elves, other races have followed suit; the combined
might of martial and arcane arts is highly tempting to those with the skill and desire to join
them.
Role: Arcane archers are a highly focused alternate class to all users of arcane magic;
particularly the magus. They gain tremendous power from mixing spell and bow, and
represent some of the finest users of ranged combat in the world.

you specialize in ranged combat, why do you need the higher hit die?)

Class Features
Weapon/Armor Proficiencies
Arcane archers are proficient with all simple weapons and martial ranged weapons.
They are also proficient with light armor, but not proficient with any shields. An arcane archer
can cast arcane archer spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal chance of
arcane spell failure. Like any other arcane spell-caster, a arcane archer wearing medium or
heavy armor incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic
component. A multi-class arcane archer still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for
arcane spells received from other classes.

Society
Every arcane archer belongs to a mystic society. These societies share generations of
knowledge and techniques within the society, so an arcane archer must choose a society at
level 1. Once made, this choice cannot be changed. See later for details of the actual
societies.

Quest
At 2nd level, the arcane archer begins a lifelong quest. They are instructed by their
society to gather four items: A wreath of thorns, the pelt of a white wolf, a pine cone, and the
dried tendon of a wild beast. When they complete this task they are granted one more item: a
petrified acorn, and directed to plant this acorn in soil. Many arcane archers are fond of
remote woods or empty fields; places where civilization is but a distant memory. Each acorn is
unique, which means each arcane archer must use their own acorn during their quest. See
later for details on the parts of the quest.

Arcane Strike
At 4th level, an arcane archer receives the Arcane Strike feat, using their arcane archer
level to determine the bonus instead of their caster level.
