Tunes of a Tragedy
(Part 1- Group)
Have you ever listened to a song and imagined that it was on the soundtrack of your
life? Now you and three of your friends get to create a soundtrack for the timeless
tragedy of Macbeth.
Requirements:
5 songs
one for each act of the play
Five songs that represent major plot events in
the play
All songs must have school appropriate lyrics (If you have to
ask, it probably is not, but you can ask anyway)
First, create a list for your soundtrack. This will be a PowerPoint or Google Slides
presentation. On each slide you will include song title, artist, and relevant lyrics for
each song.
Your group will also pick one song to share a clip of with the class. This link will
be sent to me by May 2.
You will make a works cited slide that is in correct MLA format for your lyrics.
Next, you will also create an album cover for your soundtrack. This can be digital or on
paper. This will act as your title slide on the presentation
Lasty, your group will present your soundtrack. Each group member must talk about
at least 1 of the songs.
You will email/share your presentation with me on the day your group presents

(Part 2- Individual)
Themes songs have been a part of soundtracks since before the invention of the
television. They are used to introduce characters or the plotline of a show.
You will pick a theme song for 1 character in the play.
The song must have 30 consecutive (in a row) seconds of school appropriate content.
There is a written component to this portion of the project. Alongside your theme song
you will write a 1 page essay explaining how the song you picked fits the character you
chose. You must include at least 2 direct quotations from the play in your paper.
You will also print up a copy of the lyrics to the song to include with your paper.
