! PRE CHECK
Hoisting material has been inspected and is undamaged
Maximum amount of weight that can be lifted safely with the hoist is known
and adhered to

Report any malfunction, damage or unsafe act or condition witnessed


Load has been correctly secured
Weather conditions are appropriate for manual hoisting

DO
Use correct Personal Protective Equipment that is in good condition
Secure the area with red-white barrier tape
Hoist from directly over the load
Take up slack carefully, check load balance periodically and continue raising
load carefully
Protect chain from weld sparks and other damaging chemicals like corrosives
Stand as close as possible to the load

DO NOT
Exceed dynamic and/or static capacities of the lifting equipment

Lift persons
Leave a hoist loaded and hanging in the air or tip a load
Stand under a loaded hoist or pass a load over persons
Raise loads higher than necessary to clear objects

Always use your common sense before and during the performance of your task
