Ramp/embankment and earth-retaining structures are stable
Equipment is available on site before work starts
Weather conditions are appropriate for excavation

DO
Use correct Personal Protective Equipment that is in good condition
Secure the area with barriers (e.g. red-white barrier tape or fence)

Keep a safe distance from edge with (heavy) machinery


Use support systems to prevent slopes from collapsing
Ensure the edges of the excavation are protected against falling materials
Stop if excavation becomes unsafe for any reason

DO NOT
Undermine ramps and earth-retaining structures
Put more stress on earth-retaining structures than originally intended
Remove earth-retaining structures as long as persons are present below ground
level
Work in flooded (cable) slots or during a heavy rainstorm
Position (mobile) (heavy) machinery close to the edge of the ramp to prevent
the collapse of ramps

Always use your common sense before and during the performance of your task
