For the International Student interested in obtaining FAA Private through Commercial Training

An M-1 Visa is required for participation in these courses. The M-1 Visa Training Course is designed to give international students
the basic requirements for a career in aviation. The following is a description of the pilot training courses offered by FlightSafety
Academy for the airline-oriented, career-minded international student.
Two Training Options: Both training options outlined here include the licenses required for commercial flight. These will be earned
through a combination of ground school (academic class), simulator time and flying time in the aircraft. With a M-1 Visa, you are
permitted to take courses up to one year. After the one-year term, you will return to your home country.
Option 1: Begin with the Private Pilot License (PPL) and then earn your Commercial, Instrument and Multi-Engine licenses and
optionally add the Single-Engine Commercial Rating. Option 2: Begin also with the Private Pilot License and earn your Commercial
and Instrument licenses in the Single-Engine aircraft. You can then add on your Commercial Multi-Engine Rating.

F-1 Visa Training

For the International Student interested in Professional Pilot Training with Potential Opportunity for Employment as a CFI
The following is a description of the International Professional Pilot Course offered by FlightSafety Academy for the airline-oriented, careerminded international student. An F-1 Visa is required for participation in this course. Each student must begin their academic year by obtaining
the Private Pilot License, Additional Aircraft Rating Multi-Engine Land, Instrument Rating Course and a Commercial Multi-Engine Certification
with a Commercial Single-Engine Add-on followed by the CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) course. Individuals, who already hold a Private Pilot
License, can be considered for the International Professional Pilot Course if their total flight time does not exceed 80 hours and all previous
training meets the prerequisites of the F-1 Visa guidelines. There is no exception to this rule due to the strict program hours minimum needed
to participate in OPT (Optional Practical Training).
After one academic year of training and successful completion of CFI, the student is then eligible for consideration for OPT up to one year as
an Academy IP (Instructor Pilot). OPT is not guaranteed with the issuance of the F-1 Visa and FlightSafety Academy employment opportunities
vary* (see disclaimer). The application for employment authorization is approximately $380.00 and is the students responsibility. FlightSafety
Academy charges an additional $100.00 to cover the handling and preperation costs. Those who apply and are accepted as Academy IPs are
required to complete a standardization course of training prior to being a FlightSafety Instructor. FlightSafety Academy reserves the right to
discontinue a students participation in OPT at any time. As an F-1 student, you have the option to gain additional ratings such as CFI-I
(Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument) and MEI (Multi-Engine Instructor) if you choose to enhance your training however this is not required.
After completing the International Professional Pilot Course the student will then return to their home country.
