handed over the Sangatta Regional
Hospital at the end of 2012 at an ex-
penditure of Rp 31 billion. This hos-
pital has one main four-story build-
ing with five supporting buildings,
electricity generator facility, water
treatment installation, breezeways
connecting the buildings and attrac-
tive landscaping.
The hospital is a vast yet comfort-
able complex, with no bulkheads
between visitors and staff in its lob-
by. The medium height of the recep-
tionist’s desk in welcoming visitors is
evidence of its policy of equality for
all those who enter its premises.
“this is important to build equali-
ty, and that patients are served well
Alin all, we hope that the old image
of hospital with a lack of attention to
service will be diminished with this
lobby designed like ones you find in
a hotel,” Husein explained.
He named it as one of seven
KPC Community Development pro-
grams. The others serve to improve
the quality of education, health,
sanitation, Micro and Small. Busi-
ness Agency (UMKM), nature and
culture conservation and commu-
nity institution capacity.
"They are meant to lead people
to achieve their own self-reliance
after mining,” Husein stated.
