THE PROJECT
Its the year 2035. UPs Monorail has been in operation for almost five years now since its
inception. The accomplishment of this project allowed the No Car Policy to be implemented
not only around the academic oval, but also to the entirety of the university grounds. Some
students and faculty members like the idea, saying that, it is generally good for the
environment, but for others, long walks are tiring and dangerous as extreme heat needs to be
considered. Fortunately, DOST has been developing a new travel pod system running on
magnetic rails that can be directly integrated with the UP eco-transport system. This provides
the continuity of sustainable approaches implemented within the campus.
In response to this development, UP took the opportunity to launch a BLITZ design
competition to design the new integrated MONORAIL + TRAVEL POD + BIKE TRANSPORT
TERMINAL. This new facility must be thought of as the new gateway for UP that will house a
parking building, commercial kiosks and a visitors centre. The participants shall also come
up with the branding of the terminal.

II.

SPACE / BUILDING REQUIREMENTS

transport modes. Private car owners are expected to park their cars in the facility make use of the
provided transport services. The facility will implement a Park n Ride system that completely

main Information Hub of the university.
