Module 3.3 Exercise

Cement Kiln
Process Chemistry
Module 3. Emissions from cement kilns.
3.3 CO and volatile organic carbon
compounds (VOCs).

Exercise

Cement Kiln Chemistry

3.3 CO & VOCs

As an exercise I would like you to supplement the data you gathered

on temperature profiles in Exercise 1.5 with information on oxygen
and CO levels at the kiln inlet, calciner exit and preheater exit.
Also total hydrocarbon (THC) or volatile organic carbon (VOC)
levels, if they are available.
The intention is to look for any evidence of organic components
in the kiln feed and also to support the non-oxidation of CO to
CO2 at temperatures below 680C in the preheater.

Thank You
