The McIntoshes

August, 2009

Dear Praying Friends,

We are thrilled with a recent endorsement of ProMETA by Trinity Evangelical

Divinity School. Here is the press release:

Trinity's dean endorses ProMETA

August 4, 2009.

The dean of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Trinity International University has endorsed
ProMETA's master's degree programs as "comparing favorably" to their own. Dr. Tite Tiénou writes:

The ProMETA programs compare favorably to degree programs found at our institution—Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School—and with similar programs throughout the United States. We would
encourage other academic institutions to recognize ProMETA as legitimate, academically sound
master's level programs of study, and would welcome your graduates into our advanced degree
programs.

After a careful review by the dean's office of ProMETA's goals, programs, standards and educational
approach, the letter of endorsement was sent to Dr. Keith R. Anderson, the Executive Director of
ProMETA and the Latin America Training Network (LATN). This recognition will help give Latin American
leaders confidence that their training in ProMETA, though non-traditional in form, will be recognized as
serious and biblically based.

Tim’s current course is finishing up in a few days. He will teach two others
beginning in early September. He is particularly excited about finishing the macro
plan for another course, Motivating the People of God to Serve, which will be
offered next year.

Here is some news from other members of the family:

From Debbie:

I have begun my year-long internship at Evangelical Child and Family Association and find that it’s a
perfect fit for me. I’m grateful God opened the doors to working at a Christian agency where I have the
freedom to bring spiritual issues into the counseling sessions. The staff is wonderful, and I have truly
enjoyed my time of getting to know the agency. An exciting aspect is that I will be working with about
75% Hispanic clients and have a co-worker who is native Ecuadorian. Classes begin at the end of the
month, so it will be back to the “balancing act” of home and studies, plus about 15 hours a week at the
internship. Pray for good time management and energy.

From Joel:

This July I celebrated 3 years of living in Philadelphia, where I continue to learn and appreciate the value
of being rooted and growing as part of a community. My work life continues to be dedicated in a social
work capacity at Esperanza Health Center. I do case management for a caseload of HIV+ clients and also
HIV testing and counseling, among several other things. Most of the time I feel like what I am learning
and receiving in return is more than what I could possibly give back. Outside work I have enjoyed being
parts of a few urban agriculture projects, leading a cell group from my church and partaking in the crazy
adventures and creative projects that seem to be characteristic of this city for some reason. I appreciate
your prayers that the peace, justice and joy of the Kingdom of God would grow and be known in all these
things.

From Andrea:

Thanks so much for your prayers for my time in Peru! God has definitely encouraged me
and others through this time. On the first Sunday there I was asked to translate for the
pastor’s sermon so our American team could understand. During the next few days we had
the opportunity to be an unexpected blessing by helping fix up a recently fire-damaged
apartment of some single Peruvian and missionary women. Then we headed south to
Chincha, a city still suffering the effects of a major earthquake three years ago. The poverty
around us was quite shocking for the team. During our weekend there, we played with
children, made 303 adobe bricks, and even helped a local catch a rooster! Please pray for
the salvation of our bus driver, Walter, and for successful eye surgery for his wife. Pray too
for the Bible study and church planting effort in Chincha by the Peruvian Free Church’s first
missionaries.
After returning from Chincha, we partnered with some Peruvian student leaders to head up
a camp. We had a great four days of both fun and spiritual encouragement. During the
camp one of our team members got to know one of the cooks, which led to a Peruvian team
member sharing the gospel with her and her accepting Christ! Please pray for Raquel—there
are other camp staff who are Christians but no Christian churches in the area. It was our
pleasure to include her eight-year old son in all our activities and spiritual challenges.

My favorite moment of ministry was the opportunity I had to do some of the worship at my
home church, La Vina del Señor, with three other team members on our last Sunday there.
A theme that covered our whole time there was how beautiful it was to join with the body of
Christ and have different cultures and languages all acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord
together--I really felt this embodied in our worship time. Thank you again for supporting me
in this ministry in a country I love so much.
