introduced in July 2009 states that green
technology shall be a driver to accelerate
the national economy and promote
sustainable development.

Strategically positioning Kedah as a


model Malaysian state that has successfully
brought about the convergence of societal
well-being, economic progress and
environmental sustainability, by synergising
long-term plans with immediate actions.
This vision is based on Kedahs leadership in the green
technology sector, including in the following projects:

The Amanjaya Specialist Centre in Sungai Petani, Kedah is
the first Green Building Index-certified hospital in Malaysia.
F irst Solar Malaysia Sdn Bhd is the worlds largest thin-film
photovoltaic (PV) solar module manufacturing plant and is
located at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah.
The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa won the ASEAN
Green Award 2012/2014.

The Langkawi Cable Car has installed and operated a
photovoltaic diesel hybrid power system since 2008
with a capacity of 40-60kWh per day.
