Course Objective
8th
grade
reading/language
arts
are
designed
to
have
students
work
independently
and
collaboratively
on
their
reading,
writing,
speaking,
and
listening
skills.
Students
will
use
a
variety
of
skills
throughout
the
year
to
help
them
reach
their
full
potential.
Students
will
work
on
tracking
their
progress
throughout
the
year
and
taking
ownership
of
their
learning.

QUESTIONS
What do I need for class?
Required
Supplies:
Students
will
need
2
ISNs;
one
for
reading
and
one
for
writing.
Along
with
the
ISNs,
students
will
need
a
folder
with
brads.
Recommended
Supplies:
I
have
a
limited
amount
of
these
to
share
with
the
class:
tape,
liquid
glue,
post-its,
and
paper.
What other homework do I have?
Homework
will
need
to
be
presented
to
me
at
the
beginning
of
the
class
period
in
which
it
is
due.
If
homework
is
not
presented
at
this
time,
the
student
will
be
given
24
hours
to
get
the
homework
assignment
to
me.
Once
the
24
hour
period
is
over,
the
student
will
be
placed
in
the
homework
recovery
class
to
complete
the
assignment.
24
hours
late:
10
points
will
be
deducted
from
the
overall
grade.
Homework
recovery
work:
The
highest
grade
received
will
be
a
70/100.
I dont like my grade- do you have extra credit?
Extra
credit
will
NOT
be
given;
there
will
be
no
exceptions
to
this
rule.
Cheating and
Plagiarism
Neither are accepted at
any time. Students who have
been found to cheat or
plagiarize will receive a
ZERO on the assignment,
and will not be able to make
it up with out doing further
work on the topic and a
personal reflection on the
infraction.

Can I retake a test?
YES.
You
will
need
to
complete
a
review
prior
to
retaking
a
test.
A
student
will
have
up
to
two
weeks
to
complete
a
test
retake
before
their
grade
will
stand,
1
retake
per
test.

You
may
come
see
me

school

the

How can I get extra help?
I
am
available
during
lunch,
please
see

prior

coming
