With the approaching achievement of my undergraduate music degree, I look forward eagerly to

the next stage. At age 18, I decided to pursue a music degree at Kings College London, which
offered a high level of academic challenge and benefitted also from the conservatoire practical
tuition offered through the music department's strong connection with the Royal Academy of Music.
University has developed my maturity and independence, introduced me to people from all walks of
life and developed further my strong work ethic; traits fundamental to and most valued in a
performer. I believe this course will not only enhance further my vocal, acting and movement ability,
but also prepare me for the professional performance industry. At age seven, I was chosen to
perform the role of young Cosette in the 2001 UK touring production of Les Miserables under the
musical direction of Steve Brooker. As a teenager, I played various roles including Cogsworth in
Beauty and the Beast, Lily St Regis in Annie, Nancy in Oliver and Nellie in South Pacific. Other
productions at this stage included Jesus Christ Superstar, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie Get
Your Gun and Pygmalion with the Association of Irish Music Societies (AIMS) accredited Ulster
Operatic and St Agnes Choral Societies. These experiences built further my capacity to work with
performers of all ages and levels of experience. At 17 I joined MT4Uth for their production of West
Side Story with musical director Tim Sutton. Through this organisation, the only one of its kind at
that time across Ireland, I was exposed to a new level of dedication and talent displayed by my
peers who, like me, wished passionately to pursue a career in musical theatre. In 2011, we
performed at the World Skills Organisation closing ceremony in Londons O2 Arena; a wonderful
experience. I believe that my wider musical skills complement my love of musical theatre. From an
early age, I have loved playing piano, various recorders and tenor horn. I was a member of my
schools orchestra, traditional group and chapel choir, with whom I sang in Southwark Cathedral.
The Belfast School of Music provided me with wide-ranging musical opportunities, where I
achieved my grade six theory and grade seven tenor horn with distinction; playing in the Concert
Band was tremendous joy. Piano has been central in my musical development, in which I have
achieved grade 7. I began singing lessons at 16 and by eighteen had achieved grade 8 distinction
in classical voice and a Musical Theatre diploma with distinction. Alongside my A levels, I achieved
a double distinction in Performing Arts BTEC. I adore writing and directing, aspects of which I
continue to develop at university. In 2012, I worked as an extra in HBOs Game of Thrones in
Belfast, an experience which gave me a taster of the potential scale of the entertainment industry
and its associated levels of production. My recent performance opportunities in Kings College
London include playing Maureen in Rent, Maria in West Side Story, Rizzo in Grease, Woman One
in Songs for a New World, Cherubino in Le Nozze de Figaro and Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern
Millie. In second year I studied Jazz Singing at RAM. This year, I am delighted to have been
selected as the singer for KCL Big Band. In my final year at university, I have achieved the roles of
Vice President of Kings Musical Theatre and Resident Producer for Kings Opera. I keep a
watchful eye on the business aspects of the industry and focus on creating liaisons with other
institutions including RAM, RCM, Guildhall, Heritage Opera and Mahogany Opera. I am currently
co-writing and directing an original musical with Kings Musical Theatre, to be previewed at
Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016. Beyond university, I have been involved in a North London fringe
company, TheatreN16 where I am exploring new types of theatre including avant-garde.
Performance remains my first love. Academic study has deepened and broadened my
understanding of and relationship with music-making further. Full-time professional training at RAM
will enable me to bring all of the key elements of my life-long love affair together.
