Notes
Sloped bind-off
When shaping the armholes, the shoulders and the neckline, the edges will be smoother if you use the
following technique. Dont work the last stitch on the last row before a bind-off row, leave it on the needle and
turn. Slip the first stitch on the bind-off row purlwise to the right-hand needle (there are two stitches now on
RH needle), then lift the unworked stitch over the slipped stitch and off the needle. This is the first bound-off
stitch on the bind-off row. Continue binding off (if necessary) as usual.
Decreasing in pattern
While decreasing or binding off at the neck edges, you will have to decrease in lace as well. Make sure that the
number of increased and decreased stitches within the lace pattern stay the same.
HELP ON PAGES 12-13 (tutorial + charts).
Blocking
Let pieces soak for at least 10 minutes, press out the excess water and pin out pieces to measurements.
Please note that the lace pattern can make the pieces significantly shorter before blocking!
How can you lengthen the body if you want to?
As the button band is knit separately and in pattern, if you want to lengthen the body, you can do it the
following way:
Knit 14 more rows up to the armholes. Place these extra rows evenly in the following way: work the
body increases and decreases every 16th row 3 more times sinstead of every 14th row more 3 times and work
2 more rows even between the decreases and increases than stated in the directions. The body will be
about 4 cm longer. CO 101 stitches for the button band, repeat the pattern 10 times instead of 9 and
make 9 button holes instead of 8.
Knit 28 more rows up to the armholes. Place these extra rows evenly in the following way: start the
decreases two rows later than stated in the directions, work the body increases and decreases every 18th
row 3 more times instead of every 14th row 3 more times and work 2 more rows even between the decreases
and increases than stated in the directions. The body will be about 8 cm longer. CO 111 stitches for the
button band, repeat the pattern 11 times instead of 9 and make 10 button holes instead of 8.

about the length, please wash and block the piece before adding any more rows to it as it may be
unnecessary.

Decreasing Lace
When you decrease in lace, the most important thing is that the number of increased and decreased stitches within the lace chart remain
the same. Now Im going to show you how it works decreasing the Horseshoe Chart stitch by stitch. The bound-off stitches are
marked dark grey.
1. The chart before binding off looks like this. Now, we are
going to BO stitches at the right side lets see what happens.
7. BO 1 more stitch
8. BO 1 more stitch
3. Lets BO one more stitch. The first yo in row 3 would be only
1 stitch away from the edge therefore I turn that yo and the
ssk next to it into knit stitches (remember, the ssk has to be
replaced with a knit stitch as well so that the number of
increased and decreased stitches within the pattern remain the
same).
9. BO 1 more stitch
11. Lets BO a few more stitches so that we hit the point where
the next alteration of the chart happens the only thing you
have to do now to replace the k2tog and yo with knit stitches
when the edge is too close to them.
12
7. BO 1 more stitch
2. Two stitches bound off, the first yo and k2tog in row 3 are
replaced with knit stitches.
8. BO 1 more stitch
3. Three stitches bound off, the first yo and k2tog in row 5 are
replaced with knit stitches.
9. In the next step, the ssk-s of the center line would be too
close to the edge, therefore they have to be replaced by knit
stitchesand in order to maintain the number of stitches, the
yo-s right from them have to turn into knit stitches as well.
4. Four stitches bound off, the first yo and k2tog in row 7 are
replaced with knit stitches AND the first yo in row 1 is
replaced with a knit stitch, the sk2p turns into a k2tog or ssk
whichever you prefer.
10. Lets BO a few more stitches so that we hit the point where
the next alteration of the chart happens the only thing you
have to do now is to replace the ssk-s and yo-s with knit
stitches when the edge is too close to them.
5. The first yo and k2tog in row 9 are replaced with knit
stitches AND the first yo in row 3 is replaced with a knit stitch,
the sk2p turns into a k2tog or ssk whichever you prefer.
13
