Back in the 70's we saw an explosion of "self-help" books hit

the bookstores, many of them topping the New York Times
best seller list. The teaching of building up ones self-esteem
spread like wildfire, even within our own churches. You can
turn on a radio station almost any time of day and listen to
someone teach you how to love and accept yourself
unconditionally. I am good. I can do anything. I deserve this
or that. We literally have fallen in love with ourselves.

But in today's text we find these words..."If anyone would

come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross
daily and follow me. Jesus wrote these words to all who
would be one of His disciples (a true follower of Christ). A true,
unashamed disciple of Jesus Christ is one whose life is
centered on Christ, taking up the cross daily, denying self, and
following our Lord with eternity in view. Do we live this way?
Are we following Christ every day or do we live for self? Let's
look together at today's text and learn more about being a
true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Youth Group at the Tschetter House

Bridge Students (grades 6-12) will meet at the Tschetter House for
Youth Group on Wednesday, July 6, at 7:00 PM. Join us for a
night of fun: s'mores, fire pit, games, music, and a message from

Youth Car Wash

Come and get your car washed (for free!) at the church building
on Saturday, July 9 from 9:00 am - 1:00 PM. Voluntary donations
are greatly appreciated. All proceeds go towards paying for youth
camp for all participating Bridge Students.

VBS 2016: Decorating & Meeting

Sunday, July 10 after 2nd Service: Meeting for all volunteers. We
will need your help in decorating our church building for VBS that
afternoon any time from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. crossbridgeny.org/vbs

Youth Camp Fees & Forms Due

Parents and Students: Full Youth Camp Fees and Forms are due
on Sunday, July 17! All Forms need to be notarized for. Please
pick up a handout from the Welcome Center. Questions?

Christmas in July

Operation Christmas Child boxes will be collected on Sunday,

July 31! Be encouraged to pick up a box or two, fill up a box, and
pray for the child who will receive your box. Our goal is to collect
250 boxes in July!
