Lesson Title: My Perfect Trip To Spain


Lesson Duration: 7 days
Performance Objective: Upon completion of this lesson, the
student will be able to
Become familiar with Spains food, entertainment, cultural
sites, and tourists activities.

MS CCR/CCSS: 4. Present Information, and findings and
supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of

tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

Instructional Aids:
Power Point of Spain, Spain reading sheet, Handout of Travel
Vocabulary, Handout of Review of Past Tense Verbs, Handout for
Presentations, Directions for project in Spanish, Rubric, Final Test,
board games.
Materials Needed:
Journal (paper) for extension
Equipment Needed:
Computer/Google
Desired Student Prerequisites: Introduction to travel, action
verbs related to travel, methods of transportation, previous
introduction to past tense endings.
Introduction/Anticipatory Set
Display a picture of a flamenco dancer and a corrida de toros
(bull fight) and ask students to brainstorm where they think that
place is, and why they are doing that.

Lesson Outline/Procedures:
Notes:
Day 1
Anticipatory Set: Show students
picture/photograph of a flamenco dancer and of
a corrida de toros (bull fight). Ask the
students : What do you think we will study?
Brainstorm what do you think they are doing and
why? Class responses to the photograph. Listen
and add comments as teacher/students discuss
the picture.
After the introduction, hand out the instructions
with rubric. Students will work in groups of 2-3.
Time to select and sign up for research topics.
Groups will assign the tasks/duties for
everyone.
Day 2
Review of Past Tense verbs, and vocabulary of
travel with online game: Duolingo or Kahoot.
Show video and song of Past Tense Verbs.

Students complete handout of Past Tense Verbs
and Transport vocabulary. Teacher collects
handouts.
Day 3
Teacher introduces Google earth instructions.
Teacher shows the basics to create a map and
add markers of the places in their tour of Spain.
Students play with Google maps to feel familiar
with it. Then, the groups begin to choose the
locations, activities, landmarks, historical sites,
dining, shopping, recreation, or anything else
that interests them.
They begin making their map and their power
point.
Day 4
Students will continue to work on their map of
their perfect trip through Spain, and the power
point to go with it.
Day 5
Students will finish making their maps and the
power points.
Day 6
The groups being presenting the projects of their
trip to Spain. In order to keep the other groups
engaged they have to complete a handout
based on each of the presentations.
Day 7
Review for test with Kahoot and Duolingo.
Written test about A Trip to Spain.

Application
Guided Practice:
Teacher will show a Power Point on Day 1 of an example of her
perfect trip through Spain and gives details on how to complete
the project.
Teacher will guide students on how to complete handouts of
review of Past Tense Verbs and transport vocabulary.
Independent Practice:
Handout of vocabulary of Transport.
Handout of Past Tense Verbs.
Presentation of perfect tour of Spain. (In groups)
Map of perfect tour of Spain.(In groups)
Summary
Lesson Closure:
Teacher will discuss/answer any questions about the different
points the students marked on their maps. Use Duolingo or
Kahoot to review the Past Tense verbs and Transport vocabulary.
Students can also review by competing in groups to play Family
Feud, by using the lights buzzers when answering questions. A
board game is also available to review these concepts.

Informal Assessment/Review:

Formal Assessment:
Written test on a trip to Spain.
Presentation.
Lesson Extension
Extension/Enrichment:
Write an imaginary journal about your trip, where you visited,
what you ate, what you bought, talk about the weather, the
shopping, the exchange rate, and anything else you may want
to add.
Students can also make an art craft of something that relates to
one of the landmarks they chose on their map.

Accommodations/Differentiation:
Kinesthetic: Students can play board games such as flash cards
to review Past Tense Verbs, weather and transportation
vocabulary. Students can work in groups to role play a family
having their trip to Spain.
Auditory: listen to songs, conversations in a video/cd about trips
to Spain.
Visual: read books/brochures about tourist attractions, different
landmarks , places to visit, in Spain.
