Worsted weight yarn is used for the

White Chunky Yarn
Worsted Weight Yarn in an
accent color (like red) and

slip st in next sc 8 sc. Fasten off
leaving a 10 tail.
Embroider a French knot pupil with
black yarn. Sew eyes in place.
Puppet Edging-Rnd 1: With right side
facing and larger hook, join A in any
st at cuff opening; ch 1, sc in each st
around; join with a slip st in first sc
24 sc.
Rnd 2: [Ch 3, slip st in next sc] 23
times, ch 3, slip st in first slip st.
Fasten off.
Finishing: Lay the scarf flat; place a
puppet at either end of the scarf with
the opening towards the tapered
scarf end and the nose facing away.
Insert tapered end of scarf into the
puppet opening about 2; pin scarf to
the upper part of the puppet only, (in
the wrist area if this were a
mitten). Sew the top layer of puppet
securely with matching yarn to the
tapered scarf ends, being careful not
to sew the opening closed.

be Berries in the Snow Scarf. When
following the crochet scarf pattern
you'll see that it twists if you don't
block it, resulting in a fun and unique
scarf. This is an easy crochet pattern
and great for the holiday season.

Motif 2 and every other motif,
** You want to alternate the
curve part of your motif so
TURN every time you start a

Wrap the scarf around the

snowmans neck and using some of
the same crochet thread that the
scarf was made with, tack the scarf to
the body firmly.
Sew the nose to the snowmans face.
Sew the completed hat firmly onto
the snowmans head (at a slight angle
to give him character).
Sew eyes and a lopsided smile onto
his face with black yarn.
Sew in any loose ends.

warm then you might not get snow.
Make these adorable Snowflake and
Cookie Coasters so you can enjoy the
snow too. This is an easy crochet
pattern that is worked in a hexagon.

unspun, 100g-3,53

For the cookie: 1 skein in
brown and 1 skein in offwhite.
For the ice crystal: 1 skein in

you can make Sparkle Snowflake
Appliques. Add the applique to a top,
a bag or even use it as a gift topper.
This is an easy step by step tutorial to

yarn in a color of your choice
(or another worsted weight or
"Category 4" yarn)

Make more than one. After you make

the first one you'll find that the rest
are easy!
To sew onto a t-shirt use a straight

needle and sewing thread. Cut a good
length of thread--maybe 24" inches
or so to start. Thread your needle and
knot both ends so you have doubled
your thread for stitching. Position
your snowflake where you would like
it and holding it in place, push your
needle through from the wrong side
until you reach the knot. Now stitch
being sure to secure the center and
all of the "arms" of the snowflake. I
try and stitch directly through the
yarn and hide my thread by using
small stitches on the right side and
longer on the back side. You can see
how this looks in the photo above of
the wrong side of the shirt. Nothing
too fancy or precise here!
