This side is located in GOVINDPURI OKHLA PHASE III, NEW DELHI

110020. This is a major project of a estimated budget 250 cror
es .This
project is under AUHLIWALIA CONSTRUCTION LTD..
This structure is a residential building of
13 floors.This is a non load bearing structure made of many colu
mn and
beams. Many SKILLED or UNSKILLED labour is working here , for exam
ple
mason, bhisti, coolie, civil Engineer , Architect, machine oprator
s and
many electricians.This work is continued from few months ,now fr
amed
structure is ready till three floors.
Flooring , brick masonary , plastering and
future work is now beginning. A big quantity of steal, cement, sa
nd and

bricks are using. This structure is fully resistant to earthquake.

STORAGE OF MATERIALS
All the materials used in any structure should be stored carefully t
o give
proper strength.For storing of cement wood planks or other m
aterial
which does not allow moisture to come in contact with cement bags
.
Storing of cement is shown in the picture taken at the site of constru
ction :

This able us to use cement after some later. If cement bags comes in c

ontact of
moisture cement gets set and we use this in structure this does not take
proper

strength that was calculated while designing the structure and may cau
se cracks or
decay and also liable to collapse the structure ,so proper Storing of cem
ent is
essential at the site.At the site cement is stored on a iron sheet which a
ct as a wall
between cement bags and earth moisture.

At site proper storing of steal is also essential to prevent steal from d
ecay or
corrosion , So steal is stored on the wooden boxes, iron boxes or any
other
objects which makes a difference between steal and earth surface.

Before storing steal it should be kept in mind that storage and st

eal
work should be done at a place so a big space is required , otherwise
extra
labour is required to carry the steal at the site of steal work.
Then steal is
converted into required shape by the skilled labour by the tools used
in steal
work. Then these steal frames are used in columns and beams and a
lso
required place like in slabs, flooring and damp proofing course.

increases the tensile strength of cement concrete structure.
Steal is joint together with the help of steel wire, to make it flexible.

TOOLS USED IN CONSTRUCTION
At any construction site many tools are used which help us to do any w
ork
easily.

WATER TANKER :

it is used to carry water from the sourc

e of
water to the site. This water is used in curing, preparing mortar a
nd
soaking of bricks etc.

MATERIAL BOX : This box is used to carry the materials lik

e
cement, sand, concrete etc. from the storage to the required plac
e or
to the mixers. Picture of the box is shown below:

SIEVE : This is a equipment used in construction to fine the ceme
nt ,
sand etc. It separates stones, concretes and other waste objects f
rom
the sand and cement.It also give a range of particles size.

CONCRETE CONE : This is used to place concrete on a bigg

er
height with the help of machine. This place concrete easily i
n the
mould of column and beams.

This cone is filled with concrete mix then with this machine this
cone
provide concrete at the required height.

MIXER : This is a machine used to mix component of morta
r or

concrete together. It makes mortar paste homogeneous and

reduces
the effort and time consumption to prepare the mortar.

SAFETY NET : This net is used at the boundries of structure

. It
prevent people from the injury that may be happen due to fall of
any
heavy object on a worker.

The art of covering the rough surface of masonary walls with the coats
of
suitable mortar to form a smooth finish even durable and weather resis
tant
surface is called plastering.

PROCESS OF PLASTERING :

First surface is prepared by even knocking off the projections on the sur
face
of column and beams.
All the masonary joints should be cleaned to a depth of 15mm , all the
dust
and dirt then cleaned. In case of old walls surface should be made roug
h.

The cement mortar mix is then prepared in batches in such quantity th
at it
can consume within half an hour. To prepare mix dry cement an
d sand
mixed thoughly till the mixers colour become homogeneous then wate
r is
added in this and mixed thoughly.

After that we apply coats of plaster it may be single coat or double coat
. At
site there is single coat plastering .
During plastering thickness of plaster should be maintained at all
the
surfaceso we mark the thickness by making small circles at all the surf
ace of
equal thickness . During plastering workers have to wear helmet
, hand
glubbs and long shoes to prevent themselves from any accident.

In this construction cement concrete flooring is using because

the
compressive and tensile strength of this floor is much more than the oth
er
floor
s.

In this floor heavy reinforcement are using to improve its strength.

Firstly a layer of lean concrete is made than a series of steal rods are pla
ced
Than we finish floor surface.

RESULT
At the end of visit we know how plastering , flooring , curing and binding
of
steal is to be done . we also know about the tools and machine used in t
he
construction work and some about the colour of helmets of workers.
