A low-cost carrier or low-cost airline (also known as a no-frills, discount or budget carrier or

airline, or LCC) is an airline that generally has lower fares and fewer comforts. To make up for
revenue lost in decreased ticket prices, the airline may charge for extras like food, priority boarding,
seat allocating, and baggage etc. Currently the world's largest low-cost carrier is Southwest Airlines,
which operates in the United States and some surrounding areas.
The term originated within the airline industry referring to airlines with a lower operating cost
structure than their competitors. While the term is often applied to any carrier with low ticket prices
and limited services, regardless of their operating models, low-cost carriers should not be confused
with regional airlines that operate short flights without service, or with full-service airlines offering
some reduced fares.

Multiple fare basis[edit]

It is common for a multi-sector air ticket to have more than one fare basis, particularly if it is for
carriage on more than one airline. The issuing airline may often have an interline agreement to allow
other airlines on the ticket. One disadvantage of this system is that if any change is made, the most
restrictive fare rule, and/or the highest change fee, may apply to the entire ticket, not just the portion
being changed

What is a Web Fare?

A Web Fare is a fare that is available only online.

You cannot reserve a Web Fare over the phone.
You will see "Web Fare" underneath the "Select" button
on the ebookers Flight Search Results page.
Web Fares are generally lower than regularly published
fares, but may have more restrictions. For example, they
may be offered for a limited period of time or for specific

travel dates. These fares also are usually non-refundable.

The term online travel auction is a system of buying and selling travel products and services online
by offering them up for auction and then awarding the item to the highest bidder.[1] The need for
travel auctions emanated principally due to the high cost of travel. This high cost is also what led to
the growth in popularity of low-cost carriers, a concept initially pioneered by Southwest Airlines, and
later mimicked by Ryanair.
As with a standard Auction, the bidders, having made a judgment on how much a
particular voyage is worth to them, place their bid over a set period of time. At the end of this period
of time, the highest bidder wins the product at whatever price is finally reached. [2] There are many
variations to the way in which Auctions are carried out.
Like a number of other travel websites, travel auction sites pull their stock inventory in from a wide
variety of suppliers. The range of products may include cruises, package holidays, hotels and flights.

Promo fares are flights tickets sold during special periods when fares are especially low. They
are available for specific travel periods and come with certain restrictions. Subsequent changes
to flight dates or times may be allowed but are subject to the fare difference and a change fee.
