Analytical Services

The following slides will give you information about analytical methods, performed routinely in the
Analytical Department at Honeywell Specialty Chemicals Seelze GmbH. First pages give an overview
about technical equipments/instruments and possibilities for analyses. Subsequently all analytical
methods for determination of substances, elements etc. are listed.

Analytical Department
The Analytical Department is split into 3 groups dealing with analytical chemistry and one group
taking care of the specifications in the Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS).
We work like a service center on analytical tasks and support all laboratories at our site Seelze.
The analytical department employs 33 chemists, engineers and well educated and trained lab
technicians.
Some statistical data for 2001:
more than 21.000 analytical orders worked on

206.000 single analyses had been performed + 25.000 measurements for calibration and
verification according to our quality control standards
the average cycle time for analysis of our electronic chemicals (from start of analysis of the
complete specification to the certificate of analysis) was 2,7 days
more than 71.000 certificates of analysis issued
Our LIMS is connected to all internal fabs, production laboratories, purchasing & sales dept., R&D
laboratories and HS&E-dept. (~ 340 user) and enables a fully automated control from A to Z
(printing working sheets, controlling deadlines, comparing results with given specifications, printing
statistical control sheets, informs customer directly).
All analytical data entered in the LIMS since 1988 are directly accessible any time (> 324,000
analytical reports, ~ 3.2 Mio. single data)

Overview of Analytical Techniques

Clean Room Facilities
All sample preparations for ultra-trace analysis at
the sub-ppb-level are performed in clean rooms.
Single vessel techniques are used to minimize
contamination
Specially developed sample preparation units
enable the analysis of ultra-clean acids and
solvents at low ppt-range in routine
