BUSINESS
A Georgetown University MBA student quickly put her lessons into practice by opening a Korean
restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue NW.
DEVELOPMENT
The site of the current FBI headquarters could become home to a 160-foot-tall mixed-use building that
officials hope will revitalize one of the Districts most storied avenues, after a federal design panel
approved draft guidelines for the site on Thursday.
ENVIRONMENT
Three Northwest environmental projects won city grant funding under the RiverSmart program.
Georgetown's advisory neighborhood commission doubts DC Water projections about how much
stormwater runoff needs to be diverted from their community.
POLITICS
The D.C. Board of Elections says it has new and faster ballot tabulation machines this year, and
promises quicker returns on results during the night of the June 14 primary, as voters choose
nominees for D.C. Council and Democrats cite their presidential preference.

RECREATION
After years of complaints about flooding in the Guy Mason Recreation Center pottery room most
recently, a sewage backup on Saturday the D.C. Department of General Services is pledging to
address the issue.
The Fat and Greasy Citizens Brigade, a local community theater troupe, is preparing to present
outdoor performances of The Tempest in Georgetown.
TRANSPORTATION
The latest round of a multi-phase optimization project for the Districts traffic signals swept across
wards 3 and 4 on Friday, with community leaders largely in agreement that changes are needed but,
in some cases, frustrated at the lack of concrete information from city agencies.
OTHER NEWS
Georgetown University will continue its current undergraduate enrollment levels through 2036;
continue moving undergraduates out of neighborhood rental properties; and gradually increase its
numbers of graduate students, faculty and staff, officials said Monday.
Tudor Place, the historic home of six generations of Martha Washingtons descendants in
Georgetown, is celebrating its 200th anniversary with a garden party, family-friendly birthday festivities
and a year full of events.
The varied participants of Takoma's Knock On Wood tap dance studio will perform Sunday at Deal
Middle School.

An expanded town house in Foxhall Village, on the market for $1,249,000, boasts improved living
space and a convenient location.
OPINION
Editorial: Although Brandon Todd's close ties to the mayor have their appeal, we favor the
independence and some key positions found in his impressive challenger Leon Andrews, whom

we endorse for D.C. Council.


Editorial: We appreciate Metro board chair Jack Evans' push for dedicated funding streams to bolster
our regional subway system.
Sherwood: Metro's SafeTrack service reductions are hitting lower-income workers who rely on
affordable public transportation.
