For example, if you wish to not collect Daily Engine Usage data, you can turn off group three in
the above table. The data in the DDEC IV & V ECMs will be erased and no new data in that group
will be collected. Data in all the other four groups will still be collected and reported.
The tool you use to turn off the above groups is Diagnostic Link 3.1 or later software. Follow
these simple steps:
1. Connect a PC running Diagnostic Link to your vehicle diagnostic connector through the
DDC Translator box and cables.
2. Turn on the ignition key and wait for the software to indicate that you are connected.
3. Click with your mouse on the icon to retrieve the calibration from the ECU.
4. When the calibration file has been retrieved, click on the MISC tab.
5. The status of the five groups of parameters is shown on the lower left hand side of the screen.
The factory setting is that all five groups are enabled.
6. Click on the groups you wish to disable. You will see the check marks disappear as you
click on them.
7. Type the password for the ECU in the bottom left dialog box. The Transmit button will
darken and when you click on it the new setting will be transmitted to the ECU.
8. DDEC Data will only be collected for the data groups that are still checked on the MISC tab.
You can use Diagnostic Link 3.1 or later to turn on the collection of data in any group that has
been turned off. You just need to follow the above procedure again.
DDEC software Release 29 or later features compliments this change in setting up DDEC
Data. When a data group is disabled with Diagnostic Link, the old data for that group is cleared
from the ECU memory. This is done to prevent the old data from remaining in the accumulators
and potentially causing confusion if the collection of data for that group is turned on again in the
future.
